You may be wondering...What are OUR Elders up to? Honest question. So,

I thought it important to provide the Church body with an update, and to let

assigned Kingdom mission the Lord has given us.

Part of this process will require discerning each

Elder’s unique gifting in order to identify their

correct ministry area within the Church body.

Because our Elders will assume a lot of the

roles, responsibilities, and duties that our

deacons currently perform, we will need to

review and realign the job description and

expectations for that of deacon. Our intent is to

keep deacons involved in the ministry aspects

within the Church body. The primary ministry task

here being the overwatch and care of deacon

families.

Finally, the appointment of elders and the

subsequent realignment of deacon roles and

responsibilities will precipitate a revision of our

Church Constitution. The exact depth and breadth

of the revision will develop over time. However, I

need to say that our current Church Constitution

was revised several years ago and is a good

working document. Therefore, unless otherwise

required, our intent is to work within the existing

frame of our current Constitution.

One final thought. As we move forward, the

Elders will continue to keep the Church body

informed. Our desire is to be open and

transparent as we carry out this transition and

implementation of an Elder Council and Elder led

Church. There will be bumps along the way—

there always are when change occurs. Our desire

is to keep the bumps to a minimum and to make

this process as smooth as possible. In line with

this desire, I ask you to pray for the Elders as we

begin our work. WE covet your prayers and

support as we earnestly begin this endeavor.

Keep moving to the HIGH GROUND

Over the last eight years, we have seen a steady decline in contributions

to the Cemetery Fund.

The decline in contributions combined with lower interest rates have

made it impossible to pay the expenses associated with the upkeep of the

cemetery.

We are trying to avoid using our savings for mowing expenses. Our goal

is to have this fund generate money from interest and become self-maintaining.

We would appreciate your contributions for this purpose. Checks can be made to Deep

Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

Thank you,

The Art of Giving

We give of ourselves when we give gifts of the

heart: love, kindness, joy, understanding, sympathy,

tolerance, forgiveness.

We give of ourselves when we give gifts of the mind:

ideas, dreams, purposes, ideals, principles, plans,

projects, poetry.

We give of ourselves when we give gifts of the spirit:

prayer vision, beauty, aspiration, peace, faith.

We give of ourselves when we give the gift of words:

encouragement, inspiration, guidance.

Emerson said it well: “Rings and jewels are not gifts,

but apologies for gifts. The only true gift is a portion

of thyself.”
