From our President….Dear NSMTA Members,
September’s program featured a terrific presentationby Mary Clare Barker. It was a very nice way to startour season. As of this writing NSMTA still hasseveral problems that need to be solved. We stilldon’t have a recital chairperson or a competitionchairperson and no one in our membership hasstepped forward to meet this need. I feel that there isno choice but to hire an individual for a paid positionto organize and run these events. At our nextmeeting I will ask our attending members to givetheir thoughts of how to proceed. Out of these ideaswe will look for the best solution. We are still compiling membership numbers so itisn’t yet clear on the final number of members wehave in NSMTA. The yearbook is nearingcompletion and will be ready for the Octobermeeting. Finally we will offer members a $30.00 rebate forthose who attend the ISMTA conference in October. The purpose is to show our support for theconference and to lift some of the financial burdenfrom our attending members. Please keep yourregistration receipt so we can verify attendance.Lastly, I picked up several boxes of books and musicfrom Martha Arquilla’s estate. In her will she left hermusic library to NSMTA. It is really too much musicto carry in and out for each meeting, but I will bringone of the boxes for our October meeting. Thebooks are free.
