Sings the Blues in Lewisburg

LEWISBURG, TN- The Marshall County Horseman’s Association held their 44th Annual Horse Show on Friday, July 24th. An enormous group of enthusiasts fi lled the Marshall County Expo Center, cheering on their favorites. Marking the cards for the 32-class event was the Honorable Chris Zahnd. Brian Peery provided the beautiful show tunes, while Chip Walters served as Announcer, James Elliott served as Farrier and Barr Studios served as the offi cial Photographer.

Starting the show out right was the Lead Line competition. Ally Jo Jacobs and My Little Red Wagon kept their winning streak alive by taking the fi rst blue of the show in that division. A highlight of the horse show happened during the very competitive Riders’ Cup Park Pleasure class. Retired Walking Horse trainer, Dick Myers showed the excited crowd he still has what it takes to win a blue. And it also didn’t hurt that he was aboard multi World Grand Champion BB King’s Jazz, owned by Stephens & Womack. It was a very special moment hearing the crowd support him and observing an enormous fan club gathering around him in the winners’ circle. As Class 22 was showing off their talents, Mother Nature decided it was time to

wet the track. The heavy rain did not slow the competition down one bit. The riders stayed focused and the Amateur Four Year Old Mares and Geldings continued working hard for the blue. Jose’s Lilly Rose and Madeline Tew got the top award for owners Kimble and Madeline Tew.

The Walking Horse Championship Stake closed out the show. New duo, Master’s Razzel and Jazz and John Allan Callaway made their debut ride as contenders for the Walking Horse World Grand championship and claimed their fi rst blue together. The Alan Riddley Family owns the champion. MP2 and Jerry Beaty took the reserve award for Rising star Ranch. Congratulaions to each 2020 Lewisburg champion!

The Trail Pleasure Youth champions were The Black Out LD and Jayden Jackson.

Claiming top honors in the Park Performance Amateur class was Do Right with Dr. Jim Baum in the irons.

Ohh Troubadour and Tyler Baucom were crowned champions in the Riders’ Cup Two Year Old Stallions class.

Taking the judge’s top mark in the Amateur Four Year Old Stallions class was Ole Red AC with Carla Brown in the saddle.

Rocking On the Red CarpetPULASKI, TN- On July 25th, the Rotary Club of Pulaski achieved an incredible milestone in the Tennessee Walking Horse Industry and hosted their 80th Anniversary Horse Show with the 2020 Red Carpet Show of the South. This historic event took place at the Giles County Agriculture Park. Jamie Bradshaw of Arab, Alabama marked the cards for this year’s show. There were 30 classes available, with eight of those being Riders’ Cup classes. Winning the Riders’ Cup Two Year Old Mares & Gelding class was I’m A Centerfold Too with Jimmy McConnell in the irons. Wilma LJ and Casey Wright took the blue in the Riders’ Cup Three Year Old Mares & Geldings division. Claiming the top mark in the Riders’ Cup Two Year Old Stallions class were Kobe 24 and Tim Smith. Others winning the Riders’ Cup divisions were Park Performance- Ain’t He Grande and Philip Trimble; Show Pleasure- The Crimson Sky and Drew Graves; Three Year Old Stallions- The Cochise and Link Webb and Open Specialty- I’m Dialed In and Robert Stivers. Thefinalclassoftheevening,theWalkingHorseChampionship,wasalsothefinalRiders’Cupclass.Onlyone entry answered the gate call. We Will Rock You made an outstanding “exhibition-style” show with all eyes on him and trainer, Philip Trimble. Chris and Edwin Hutchinson own the World Grand Champion contender. On August 2, 2020, Tony Nales of Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away. The 67 year old fought a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife of over 35 years, Terri Nales of Fort Lauderdale, along with four grown children, Anthony, Jr., Justin, Laura and Amy. He is also survived by four young grandchildren.

Tony owned Desarata Construction Company of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This company specialized in the construction of luxury homes in South Florida. Tony was an enthusiastic supporter of the Tennessee Walking Horse Industry and loved the beauty and grace of the breed. For over 30 years, he regularly attended the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in Shelbyville, Tennessee. Tony loved nothing more than discovering young colts with outstanding potential with his long-time friend, George Zamora. He was thrilled when putting the colts into training, and later watching them enter the show ring. All who knew Tony Nales appreciated his generosity, wit, humor and ability to put a smile on the face of those around him. The Scoop sends our warmest condolences to The Nales Family and all who called him friend.

International Safety Protocols

The International Horse Show has taken enhanced Health and Safety measures for those who attend our horse show for Trainers, Owners and Exhibitors. While on MTSU grounds you must follow all instructions as listed below. An inherent risk of exposure to Covid-19 exists in any public space where people are present. Covid-19 is a contagious disease. If infected, you may exhibit no symptoms, mild symptoms, or become incurably ill. According to the “Centers for Disease Control and Prevention”, senior citizens and person’s with underlying health conditions are especially vulnerable. By attending the International Horse show you voluntarily assume all risk related to the possible exposure to Covid-19.

The International Grand Championship Walking Horse Show will be conducted in compliance with all Federal, State and local laws and requirements with respect to COVID-19. We urge all personswho plan on attending to become familiar with the Action Plan.

REQUIREMENTS FOR HORSE SHOW OFFICE: • All participants are encouraged to make their entries in advance online.

• Everyone who enters the Horse Show Offi ce must wear a mask or cloth face covering. • Trainers and/or participants must remain at least six (6) feet apart while in the Horse Show Offi ce. • No more than 8 people are allowed in the offi ce, including staff; once that number has been reached others will have to wait outside. We ask that you don’t loiter in the offi ce.

WARM-UP & INSPECTION AREA REQUIRMENTS: • While the show is in progress, only horses and riders in the next three (3) classes are allowed in the warm-up area. Only three (3) people are allowed per horse: Trainer, Rider, Assistant or Groom. • Only one (1) person allowed going through Inspection and must wear a mask. The DQP Inspection area will be increased to allow all required personnel to social distance from each other. • All DQP’s will wear masks.

RULES TO FOLLOW: • Social distancing requirements will be enforced throughout the show grounds at all times. • No standing in front of Entry and Exit Gates. • Show offi ce will only be open to pick-up back numbers, sign paperwork, and drop off payments. • Masks are required per county, and MTSU regulations. • While on show-grounds the only exception is while mounted on a horse. • You must provide your own facial mask. • No party’s or get together are allowed during the show. • Trophy presentation photographs will be taken at the end of a class and a victory pass will be done. All other ribbons will be available at the OUT gate in a box. • WHOA will notify participants via email if we become aware of any individual who was present at the Show and tests positive for COVID-19 during the show or within 14 days of the conclusion of the show. • Trainers and participants are strongly encouraged to regularly disinfect high contact items and surfaces such as tack, grooming supplies, stall handles, etc. • Family members may sit together in the seating area of Miller Coliseum but, everyone else should leave three seats between them and others and an empty row in front of and behind them.

Magellan and Alex Johnson discovered blue in the Trail Pleasure Amateur division.

Joyce Myers and Mr. For Real won the Amateur Five Year Old Stallions class.

Shane Porterfield and Prowlin’ In The Gin took the blue in the largest class of the night, the Amateur Novice class.
