Dear Readers,

As I mentioned in my June article, this month I am

writing about my “Pet Peeves” We all have things

that annoy us or drive us crazy. Webster's definition

of “Pet Peeves” reads as follows “something about

which one frequently complains; a particular per-

sonal vexation” Does that sound like you? Listed

are just a few of my “Pet Peeves”

1. Phone calls where thy have a menu to choose

from, if your purpose in calling is not included you

have to start from the beginning.

2. Waiting for a call back from a person to book an

appointment or help with a problem we may have

with that particular issue.

3. A car cutting in front of you when making a turn

not using their signals.

4. Waking up in the morning to refuse discarded on

my lawn from the night before.

5. Motorcycles at night revving up their motors,

flying up or down the street late at night.

6. Our highways cluttered with trash that can be

kept in their cars till they get home to dispose of it.

7. My grocery bags packed too heavy and don't

realize it till I get home and cart them up steps and

into the house, even though I mention “light

please”

8. A subscription that stills come when you can-

celled it 3 months ago.

My list could go on but I must stop here for now,

Are any of my “Pet Peeves” similar to yours?

Before closing I would like to mention that Mickey

Danyluk has given our Senior Center library several

beautiful well done personal interviews with many

town people for our keeping. They are in the Cen-

ter library for your reading pleasure. Come in and

spend a couple of hours, its nice and cool in here.

Have a nice August and I will write again in Octo-

ber, my favorite time of the year!

MUNICIPAL AGENT NOTES By John Sullivan

Your Credit Card May Have Hidden Powers

(This info is for all card holders, not just seniors)

A. American Express offers to all their credit card

holders the following features at no additional

charge:

1. Extended Warranties If you purchase a new product

(TV, toaster, refrigerator, etc) with an American

Express card and the item comes with a manufac

turer’s warranty—American Express will extend

this warranty for up to 1 year.

2. Purchase Protection If you purchase a new con-

sumer product with an American Express cared and

within 90 days the item becomes stolen, vandalized

or otherwise broken, through no fault of your

own—AMEX will reimburse you for the item's

purchase price, up to $1000.

B. Master Card/Visa Only certain of these credit

cards offer extended warranties and none of them

offer purchase protection. To determine what your

card offers for warranties, call 1-800-622-7747. If

you card has this feature it will operate exactly the

same as the AMEX card.

C. Discover Card/ other card. The Discover Card

does not offer wither of the above features. To

check other cards call the 800 number on the card.

D. To take advantage of the above, you need to:

1. save your copy of the sales receipt

2. contact the credit card company

(800# located on card)

Special Note: Part of my job as Municipal Agent is to

be an ombudsman for municipal services. So, if you’re

in need of a particular town service and you are not

sure how to access it, feel free to contact me at 623-

6784. I’ll either refer you right away, or if I don't know

I’ll research to determine which town agency is the

most appropriate one to handle your questions/problem

. Best Regards! John Sullivan
