INTRODUCTION

With this activity we have the opportunity to know the family of the saxophone and their main characteristics.

You prepare to navegate by Music Band, where you could hear the different types of saxophones and you will know their shape.

• To do these tasks , pupils have to follow different steps, such as:

MUSICAL INSTRUMENT DEFINITION• An musical instrument is an object form by

combination of one or more resonant system and the resources by it vibration. This object had been built to produce sound in one or more tones which can be combinated by an artist to produce music.

• At the beginning, something that produce sound can be used as music instrument, but music expression is reserver by these objects that have this specific purpose.

MUSIC BAND HISTORY

• The Origin of Music Band come since II a. C with different instruments.

• The Development of the Music Band was slow until s. XIX.

• Due to Industrial Revolution, when people invented big machines and begin to factory automation . Besides people begin to build musicals instruments, specially, wind-wood, brass and percussion instruments.

• In this period change the formation of the Musica Band Due to:

-The development of the Fliscornos or Saxhornos.-The invention of the Saxophone.-The development of the Percussion instrument.

SAXOPHONE BIRTH

• This is a one of the jounger instrument .• This Instrument was created by Adolphe Sax, in

1850.• This instruments have never had a permanent

place in a Orchestra, although some Music compositors have used this instrument in their masterpieces.

• The Saxophone can heard in Music Bands and Jazz Big Bands.

• Nowadays. All the Music compositors were composing a lot of saxophone masterpieces.

SAXOPHONE HISTORY• The saxophone was created by Antoine Joseph Sax(1814-1894) about 1840.   Adolph Sax was borned in Dinant

(belgique) He was a Instrument manufacturer as his father, and he showed a new instrument for first time in 1841 (bass Saxophone) in a Second exposition of Industry museum of Bruselas. The 3rd of February in 1844, Adolph Sax interpreted with the Bass Saxophone the Hymno Sacro, transcription of Berlioz. Berlioz Said different important sentences about the saxophone such as:

• “The sound of the saxophone in as sweet as a angel” and “The Saxophone respect to the clarinet is the Niagara of the sound”.

• The saxophone was patented on 21th of March in 1846, in Paris.• Since 1845 the saxophone was included in all Music Militar Bands in France and it was also included in a

Sinfonic Bands, where it play a important role. Besides The saxophone was used as sonorous vehicle since 1850, to express the fascinating atmosphere of the Jazz music.

• Instead of that the saxophone was included in Sinfonic Bands, few music compositors include the saxophone inside their pieces, Only somebody such as:

• Thomas, Massenet, Bizet, Meyerbeer, Ravel, Prokofief, Milhaud, Strauss y Gershwin .• There are a lot of Saxophone pieces such as:• -Saxophone Concerts• -Saxophone room music.• - Pieces about different themes.• Nowadays , the number of Saxophone Piece surpass the 10.000 pieces.• We wish to emphasize music compositors such as: Debussy, Glazunov, Ibert, Arma Villa-Lobos, Jolivet, Husa,

Koechlin, Denisov, Constant, Creston, Rivier, Martín, Milhaud, Webern, etc... • In Spain there are Music Compositor who have included the saxophone ins their pieces, such as:Halfter, De

Pablo, Marco, Alís, Villarojo, Otero, Angulo and Arteaga.• Besides, there are many saxophonist who have composed a lot of classical pieces and they have development

the saxophone world. These saxophone artist are:• Marcel Mule (He is the iniciator of the Saxophone Classical Shool ), Sigurd Rascher, Jean-Marie Londeix, Celil

Leeson, Daniel Deffayet y Donald Sinta . In Jazz music enphasize these music compositors such as: : Rudy Wiedoeft, Sidney Bechet, Charlie Parker, Coleman Hawkins, Paul Desmond, Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan and the Spanish saxophone musician Pedro Iturralde.

WIND-WOOD INSTRUMENT: THE SAXOPHONE

This instruments is a wind instrument mixture, becuase the saxophone is done of brass material.Its mouth piece is of single tongue similar as the clarinet. The Saxophone keys are similar as clarinet.This instrument is included inside the wind-wood family for its tongue.The Saxophone family is formed by four type of saxophone such as: Soprano, alto, tenor and baritone.
