Life after college can be a scary place. At some point, in order to earn a living, you’ll be sitting on the wrong side of a big desk, clean shaven, suit and tie, resume in hand, running through all the personal selling points you’ve been rehearsing to yourself. People you don’t know will be asking you questions about your personal experiences, your views, your values, how you contribute to the company. Compare this to the men you bring in at rush. Is your chapter preparing itself to be a part of the real world? Are you ensuring that the men that you’re recruiting are there for the right reasons, show the skills, share the values? Do you base your recruitment off of some serious conversation and getting to know people or does it consist of qualifications such as “he’s come to all our events”, “we talked a lot about football” or “he’s a good guy”? Whether or not your ready to have a full on job- style interview or not, there are some basic things that you need to consider before you offer up a bid. What are our standards? Does he meet them? As you go through the process of recruitment, work with your chapter to create the standards that are framed below.
