THE ROTARY CLUB OF SANTA MARIA
THE ROTATOR
Do you have retention goals?
Do you monitor club member participation?
Do you have a plan for reaching out to members who you don’t see at meetings and events?
How do you get feedback from your members regarding their satisfaction with your club?
How well do your members know each other?
Do you know why members leave?
In these times of economic challenge, what does your club do to assist members with:
Business problems
Personal concerns
Competing prioritiesCredit for the above to District 5240 Membership
Did you know -
50% of Rotary club members leavewithin the first three years
Top Reasons Members Leave Rotary1. Unable to adhere to meeting attendance requirements
2. Relocating to a new community
3. Health reasons
4. Too much fundraising
5. Not enough value

The Rotary Club of Santa Maria
Have interesting and relevant club programs.
Find out what your new member’s passions are and get them involved in those areas rightaway.
Hold regular meetings with new members to continue their Rotary education and answertheir questions.
Encourage new members to take advantage of events and training outside normal clubmeetings:
PRLS
Poverty Conference
Rotary Foundation and Grants Seminars
District Assembly – it isn’t just for club officers
District Conference
International Convention
Conduct frequent social events:
Involve spouses/partners in everything you do. They are part of Rotary even though theyare not a member.
Hold events specifically geared to members’ children and grandchildren
Social events can also be a time for Rotary education, e.g. Fireside Chats, and District Con-ference.
When asked,”Why have you chosen to remain a member of your
Rotary club?” Current members responded:
Club Fellowship 80.2%
Community Service Opportunities 64.4%
Networking 34.5%Credit for the above to District 5240 Membership
