A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

Romsey Modellers are delighted to welcome you to our 4th model show to be held at our new location in the centre of Romsey.

Over the last 3 years, our show has gradually established as a key date in the local show calendar. Using our club meeting venue at Ampfield Village Hall proved a low risk, and measured way to learn the ropes of how to put on a model show. We were told by our guests that they loved the atmosphere and the village fete feel something we very much hope to maintain. However, the space at the village hall was extremely limited, we had done as much as we could with the venue, so this year, the plan is to do things bigger and better.

The new venue allows us to double the size of the show, dramatically increasing the number of exhibitors and traders and giving us more room to showcase our hobby to the general public.

Crosfield Hall is three times the size of the old venue , with great lighting , air conditioning and car parking and importantly right smack in the middle of Romsey.

Over the last year we have been planning the show, we have hopefully now got everything is place and are now really looking forward to welcoming you on the 14th.

This show guide is intended to answer all your questions about the event, in the event that we have missed something please don’t hesitate to contact us.

At M27 junction 3, take the M271 heading NORTH (Romsey)

At the roundabout take 2nd exit to A3057

The entrance to the show will be sign posted and there will be parking marshals available to assist you.

PARKING

There are over 120 parking spaces on site, however the car park is public and may be used by visitors to Romsey. The car park is free on Sundays. Additional car parking is available across the road at two council run car parks (again free on Sunday). Note it is not recommended you park in Aldi as they will fine non-customers).

We will have parking marshals on duty during set up, you should be able to park close to the hall for loading / unloading, however you may be requested to move further from the main entrance once you have unloaded.

SETTING UP

We have access to the hall on Saturday from 6pm, so we plan to do most of the set up then. Clubs and Traders are free to set up the evening before but please be aware that our insurance does not cover anything left in the hall overnight. Romsey Modellers cannot take responsibility for any loss that may occur prior to the Sunday.

General set up is on Sunday from 8am, we plan to allocate a club member to a groups of traders / exhibitors, please let them know if you need any assistance.

The show floor plan can be found on the last page, this is the first time we have used this venue so there may be last minute changes as we assemble the show on Saturday evening. Please bear with us, we will endeavour to ensure that everybody gets their requested space.

Complementary tea and coffee will be available from the canteen until 9:30am. Bacon Baps will be available for a very reasonable price.

INSURANCE

The show is fully insured through InsureMyEvent, we have carried out a risk assessment as per the requirements of the policy. Please let us know if you are bringing anything that we are unlikely to consider (e.g. bringing savage animals (or Modellers)!)

SELLING UNDER THE TABLE

We have no problem with this, but we would request that models for sale are “under the table” and do not form part of your display. Please keep all walkways clear.

REFRESHMENTS

There will be a selection of hot and cold refreshments available for a reasonable fee. Bacon rolls will be available in the morning and burgers etc. at lunch time. We will also be offering snacks and cake alongside tea, coffee and canned drinks.

More substantial meals and beer can be obtained at the numerous pubs and coffee shops in Romsey, 2 minutes’ walk from the hall, ask a Romsey club member for recommendations.

PUBLICITY

We have informed all local media and the modelling community via the IPMS, Airfix Magazine and Facebook. Please get the word out to your members. The event is a “Pre Event” for the 2020 Romsey Festival, which allows us to get publicity through the local council. COMPETITION

This year we will be holding a best in show competition.

We would like input from each club to help with deciding the winner, each club will be given a nomination form to detail their favourite three models on display on any of the tables. Hopefully that will provide us with a clear winner. A trophy and prize will be awarded to the winner during the afternoon.

Romsey Modellers will be awarding a best display trophy.

OUR CHARITIES – SIMON SAYS

Romsey Modellers are proud once again to be supporting Simon Says a local charity that supports children and young people following bereavement. The charity was set up following the death of our club’s secretary’s brother in law and now supports over 100 families a year, providing much needed help and support. Last year the club donated £300 from the proceeds of the show.

This year we hope to do even better.

OUR CHARITIES – MODELS FOR HEROES

We are delighted to once again be able to support Models for Heroes, which I would hope would need little introduction in the modelling community.

Over the last two years Models for Heroes founded by Malcolm Childs, have being going from strength to strength, supporting ex-

servicemen and veterans, who are suffering ill effects from their service through modelling. Malcolm, along with 90+ precious enthusiastic volunteers, teach basic model making at therapy sessions run all over the country, they help approximately 100 veterans per month get through their day a little easier.

Models for Heroes will be running a Model build session at the show.
