• Fall of the Spanish Armada• Spain had the largest navy in world

• Built huge ships for trans-atlantic travel

• Spain’s Navy attacked England in the name of the Catholic Church

• England’s faster, smaller ships destroyed the Armada

• Significance: England’s navy became the most powerful in the world, Spain would go broke
