MUSICAL THEATER WORKSHOP (15 weeks, Grades 1-4) (10 weeks, Grades 5-8, Spring only) This class introduces songs from kid-favorite Broadway musicals like “Annie,” “Bye Bye Birdie,” “Hairspray”, “High School Musical” and others. Workshops include theater games, improvisation, basic vocal skills and dance technique. Each session ends with a final showcase presentation in the studio. RECITALS A student recital series for private music students is held twice a year in December and June. The School presents a faculty recital in the fall that is open to the public. MUSIC BRIGADE Established in the fall of 2009, the Bronx House Music Brigade is a touring company of talented and dedicated students who perform in local hospitals and nursing homes providing entertainment to residents and staff. In addition to providing a needed community service the Music Brigade offers performance opportunities for Bronx House Music School students. PRIVATE & SEMI-PRIVATE INSTRUCTION Private instruction consists of lessons where an individual student learns to play an instrument or to sing, developing technical skills and artistic abilities through one-on-one instruction. Semi-private lessons are for two students with one instructor (the school does not provide partners for semi-private lessons.) Lessons are personalized to meet your needs, encourage a love of music, develop specific technique and musicianship skills, and inspire creative expression. Practice at home is crucial to both progress and student satisfaction. Private students are invited to perform in our recital series held in December and June. Instruction is available in the following instruments: Bass Drums/Percussion Piano Trumpet Violin Cello Flute Recorder Ukulele Voice Clarinet Guitar Saxophone Viola Private and semi-private lessons are available in half-hour, forty-five minutes, or hour classes, subject to teacher availability. Registration for private and semi-private music instruction is ongoing and offered in 10-week sessions. GROUP INSTRUCTION FOR YOUTH (Ages 6-12) Group lessons provide quality instruction in an affordable group setting (3-8 students). Group lessons are offered in piano, guitar, and violin, three times a year in 10-week sessions and a 7-week session during the summer. Group lessons in other instruments are available upon request subject to a minimum enrollment. Group classes meet one hour per week and are for beginning students only. Please check the website or call the office for current schedules. PRE-SCHOOL GROUP INSTRUCTION (Ages 2.5-5) The Music School offers the following group lessons for pre-schoolers three times a year in 10-week sessions and a 7-week session during the summer. Rhythm & Song (Ages 2.5-4) Children develop muscular coordination and listening skills by exploring simple rhythm patterns using basic percussion instruments and learning popular children’s songs. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Pre-School Piano (Ages 4-5), Pre-School Violin (Ages 4-5) In an intimate group setting, children will learn the beginning steps of playing the piano or violin and basic musical concepts. General InformationSCHEDULE/REGISTRATION/FEESAll classes run for 10-weeks, call for current fee and class schedules. Students must register in person or on the phone by credit card. A two payment plan is accepted for private and semi-private instruction. All credit cards, checks, and cash are accepted. In addition to the class fee, an annual insurance fee will be charged for community registrants.

ATTENDANCE POLICYLessons missed by the teacher will be made up at the earliest possible date or a qualified substitute provided. There are no make-ups or refunds for student absences or lessons cancelled by the student.

CANCELLATIONS/REFUND POLICYGroup classes are subject to a minimum enrollment. The school reserves the right to cancel classes if enrollment is insufficient; students already enrolled will receive a full refund. If a student drops out of a class prior to its start a refund will be granted. No tuition refunds will be granted after the first class except for medical reasons. If there is a medical reason, the student must provide a doctor’s note and will receive a pro-rated refund.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND DISCOUNTSThe school offers limited need-based scholarships to any student who qualifies for financial assistance, please call the director to schedule an appointment. Any family that has one child registered at the full rate will receive a 10% discount on additional siblings or parents registering for a Bronx House program during the same time period. Register for two or more simultaneous classes and receive a 10% discount on the second registration.

HEILBRUNN MUSIC SCHOOL HOURSOur school is open Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10am to 8pm, Fridays from 10am to 7pm, and Saturdays from 8:30am to 5pm, with adjusted hours during the summer.
