Remember, the seniors who had their interviews over the summer are expected to hand in a hard copy of their resume. If you haven’t handed in your resume please do so ASAP. Seniors who have completed the interviewing process with Ms. DiLuzio will need to submit your resume NO LATER than November 15, 2016.

RHS provides all students with the opportunity to speak with college admissions officers to obtain vital information relating to potential colleges and universities. Most visits occur during lunch with the college representative setting up a table outside the cafeteria. Please make an effort to talk with these very knowledgeable individuals. Outstanding Women of Burlington County Award Celeste Arties Award: applicants must show excellence in scholastics and leadership while serving as a positive role model for other young women through her interest in women’s issues. Elizabeth Coleman White Award: applicants must show excellence in scholastics and leadership as well as having an extensive interest in Science Technology Engineering and Math studies and hope to pursue STEM in her future educational endeavors. New Jersey Schoolwomen’s Club Three scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each, and two educational awards of $500 each, will be awarded to female high school graduates who intend to pursue a career in the field of education. The updated scholarship forms will be posted by December 15, www.njschoolwomens.org Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program This $1,000 scholarship supports high school seniors who live in the Comcast service area that are interested in a career in service, like teaching. 150 awards are given each year. Applicants must be nominated by their high school principal or guidance counselor and have a GPA of 2.8 or higher. To apply after nomination, submit SAT/ACT scores, transcript, resume, and personal statement. Applications are due at the end of December.

Profiles in Courage Essay Contest 2017 Write an original and creative essay that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. Applegate/Jackson/Parks Future Teacher Scholarship The National Institute for Labor Relations Research awards this $1,000 scholarship annually to one student who intends to pursue a career in education. Applications must write a 500 essay about the Right to Work principle as it relates to teachers and education. There is no minimum GPA needed. To apply, send a copy of the essay, transcript, and names of two references via their online application portal. Applications are due by December 31.

Ron Brown Scholars Program This scholarship program awards 20 students $40,000 paid over four years. While no specific majors are requested for this scholarship program, this program’s mission is to support educational advancement and commitment to service, and education majors are strongly encouraged to apply. To qualify, students must be African-American, in their senior year of high school, excel academically, and have financial need. There is no listed minimum GPA for this scholarship. There are two deadlines, and early one of November 1 and a later one during the first week of January. To apply, submit a completed application, two essays, SAT scores, transcript, and two letters of recommendation. All information must be mailed; there is no online application. Burger King McLamore Foundation Scholarship This $1,000 scholarship is open to high school seniors as well as Burger King employees and their families and spouses. Up to 100 awards are given each year, and students may apply each year as long as they qualify. Students seeking a career in education are especially encouraged to apply. There is no minimum GPA needed to be eligible. To apply, complete an online application, submit a transcript, letter of recommendation, and personal statement. Applications are due the first week in January. The Gates Millennium Scholars Program This full-ride scholarship supports low-income, minority students who are interested in education (among other majors). Awardees receive full tuition for their undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral work as long as they are enrolled in a post-secondary degree-granting program. To qualify, students must be high school seniors who have a 3.3 GPA, complete a series of eight essay questions (1,000 words each), submit two letters of recommendation, and provide proof of income eligibility. Applications are due by the second week in January each year. 1000 scholarships are awarded.

Saint Joseph’s University John P. McNulty Scholarship provides a 4-year, full-tuition scholarship to 3 highly qualified women majoring in science and mathematics. Partial tuition is also available. The program offers intensive faculty and peer mentoring, summer research, internships, and professional development. The more creative the topic, the better! The winning essay will receive a $100 card and certificate. Two runners-up will each receive a $50 gift card and certificate. Agnes Jones Jackson Scholarship This $2,000 award is given to 20-40 students under the age of 25 who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies. Applicants must be members of the NAACP to apply. Students of color seeking careers in education are especially encouraged to apply for this award. This is a financial need based scholarship. To apply, students must have a GPA of 2.5 (for high school seniors and undergraduates) or 3.0 (for graduate students), and submit a transcript, personal statement, two letters of recommendation, and financial need information. Applications are due in March.

The Hubertus W.V. Willems Scholarship for Male Students This $3,000 award is to given to 20-40 male students who are pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies in a STEM field. Applicants are encouraged to be members of the NAACP once they apply. Combining STEM studies with an education minor, allows for the perfect opportunity for students of color to obtain their teaching credentials. This is a financial need based scholarship. To apply, students must have a GPA of 2.5 (for high school seniors and undergraduates) or 3.0 (for graduate students), and submit a transcript, personal statement, two letters of recommendation, and financial need information. Applications are due in March. Portuguese-American Scholarships Foundation of NJ P.O. Box 3848, Union, NJ 07083 Students of Portuguese background, residents of New Jersey, who will graduate this 2016 school year from a New Jersey secondary school, are eligible to apply. The student or his/her parents or grandparents must be Portuguese born. Applicants must be full-time students applying to, or accepted in a college of university curriculum leading to a baccalaureate degree. ROLLING THUNDER Inc., New Jersey Chapter 2, (P.O. Box 478, Forked River, NJ 08731) will be awarding three (3) $1000 scholarships for post-high school education (college, community college, trade school, etc.) The Scholarship Community has established the following criteria for eligibility:

Application deadline: May 1, 2017 FedEx/UNCF Scholarship Program This $4,000 scholarship award is given annually to five high school seniors who plan to attend an HBCU. This award is sponsored by the United Negro College Fund. Students of color seeking a career in education are encouraged to apply. A 3.0 GPA is required. This is a merit-based scholarship. To apply, submit a personal statement, two letters of recommendation, transcript, and proof of acceptance to an HBCU. Applications are due mid-May.

Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program This scholarship program is available at nearly every major School/College of Education across the country. Sponsored by the American Association for the Advancement of the Sciences, this broad scholarship program supports undergraduates and graduates who want to teach one of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) content areas. Scholarship awardees receive full tuition and a stipend in exchange for a commitment to teach for two to five years depending on the amount of the scholarship award. Over 500 awards have already been made since 2010 when the program was first founded, and multiple awards are given every year. Deadlines vary by state and university/college.

Hispanic Scholarship Fund This scholarship program provides awards up to $15,000 (average award is $2,500) for Hispanic students who have a 3.0 GPA or higher. Awards are based on financial need and merit. While no designated majors are specifically supported by this program, students interested in teaching in their local communities are encouraged to apply. Students may apply for support in undergraduate or graduate studies. To apply, submit a personal statement, two letters of recommendation, transcript, and financial need information. Deadlines vary, so check the website for specific dates. Outlaw Student’s Teacher Scholarship Program This just might be the easiest scholarship to apply for! Awarded four times each year, students can receive $500 for a short essay on why they want to enter the teaching profession. It doesn’t get much more straight forward than that. No GPA requirement or letters of recommendation are necessary. Deadlines vary by quarter. Apply soon!

Outlaw Student’s Dale Fridell Scholarship As long as one doesn’t already have a full-ride scholarship, they can qualify for this $1,000 award that support students of all majors, especially education. One of the simpler scholarships awarded four times per year, all that’s required is a short essay regarding career plans. The essay requires one to explain why they will be the best teacher the world’s ever seen! Deadlines vary, so check their website. Shawn Carter Foundation Scholarship Program Jay-Z wants to send you to college! This scholarship is open for those who are under the age of 25 and have a 2.0 GPA or better. That is all that is required to qualify for one of these $2,500 scholarships. It does not matter if you are a high school senior, high school graduate not yet in school, enrolled undergraduate, or attending vocational school. The Shawn Carter Foundation supports students who have been through difficult times and want to give back to their community, ideal for students who plan to pursue an education major. To apply, complete an online application and submit a personal statement. Applications are due in April.

The A.J. Drexel Scholarship is a merit scholarship granted to incoming students based on superior academic performance and represents the hard-working attitude of our founder, A.J. Drexel. There are many other scholarships Drexel awards for an applicant's participation in special programs. Rutgers University Oncology Olympiad is an

academic competition focusing on cancer diagnosis,

treatment, symptoms, genetics, and healthcare

specialists. The event is comprised of two rounds:

an individual qualifying test and a team event.

Individual tests will occur online the first week of

February 2017. Those who qualify for the

team event will be notified by March 1 and receive

an invitation to the Team Round, which will take

place on May 20, 2017 at Rutgers University - New

Brunswick. Prizes will be awarded to the top

teams. All proceeds from the event will be donated

to the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey.

FAQs

Who can participate in this event? Anyone in

grades 9-12 can participate in the individual portion

of the event; however, only scores in the top 10% of

those taking the individual exam will qualify for the

team portion.

How do I select when I want to take the

individual test? When you purchase a ticket, you

can choose which date (February 1-4, 2017) and

time frame you would like to take the test. On the

day you selected, you will be allowed to access

the individual test online. When you begin the

assessment, you will be given 90 minutes to

complete the exam. Your answers will

automatically be submitted after your 90 minutes

are completed or when the three hour time frame

ends, whichever is sooner.

How will teams be determined? After taking the

individual test, people who score within the top

10% will qualify for the team portion. When

registering, you may indicate the names of members

you would like in your group; however, the team

average must be within the top 10% to qualify. If

you do not indicate team members, individuals will

be noticed the names of 4-5 randomly selected

individuals to be in their group. The team event will

be hosted at Rutgers University - New Brunswick in

April/May.

MEDacademy is a four-week summer medical

education enrichment program for rising junior and

senior high school students who aspire to become

physicians.

Eligible candidates should be highly motivated,

talented students who are in excellent academic

standing (GPA 3.3 or above) and who demonstrates

an interest in medicine. Tuition for the four-week

program (July 10 to August 4, 9 AM to PM) is

$2500, and includes scrubs, stethoscope, daily

lunch, field trips, educational resources, graduation

reception, and ceremony.
