I have been in a restaurant environment for almost my entire life. My family has own a restaurant since I was seven years old.When most people think of restaurants they just think of the servers, bartenders, cooks, and the dish washers. But, there are actually a lot of technology based jobs that revolve around the restaurant industry, and I plan to tell you about a few of them!This way, people with business degrees could actually get a good paying job that has to do with information technology jobs within a restaurant setting!Wait, the restaurant industry?

Job description: Post to social media platforms including, but not limited to, employee APP, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, blog platform on company websites. Create innovative and measureable ways to communicate our stories and messaging to key internal and external audiences. Collaborate with recruitment on strategies that bring a level of expertise in digital platforms most used to support hiring efforts. Help influence field operators on the importance of social media in todays world and help educate field operators on social media campaigns. Reduce the burden on recruiting teams to develop material, research analytics and recruitment process outcomes. Establishes relationships with bloggers and other members of the online community. May work with technical personnel in the development of tools that allow for easy integration with a social network.

Soft Skills-Excellent presentation, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Must be a team player, have creativity, and be able to problem solve on the spot. Must be able to show self confidence within social situations.

Technical skills: 2-3 years of experience in social media, multimedia and visual communications with a Bachelors degree in a related field. Must have marketing experience. Knowledge in video creation and editing (Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, iMovie, etc.) Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress CMS (HTML, CSS) and web design experience is a plus. Excellent grammar, punctuation, spelling and organizational skills.

Salary Range- 60k-120k .The median salary average is about 108k. Social Media Communications

The business analyst's primary objective is helping businesses implement technology solutions in a cost-effective way by determining the requirements of a project or program, and communicating them clearly to stakeholders, facilitators and partners. This position is responsible for critical analysis of sales and profit results, market performance trends, and product alignment.

Technical skills: Develop, execute, and maintain routine reporting and analysis to measure F&B performance against company sales and margin objectives. Partner with Operations and Accounting to ensure accurate monthly inventory recording. Review Standard Operating Procedures, streamline processes, and identify areas for improvement. Assist with planning and preparation for annual operating budgets including working closely with operating department management.

Soft skills: Supports, develops, and maintains effective communication and excellent relationship with internal customers ensuring their reporting requirements are identified and consistently met. Critical thinking, good listing skills, flexibility, working well under pressure and have good judgment.

Salary: The average salary is about 65k. Can go anywhere between 50k-90k.Business Analyst(Food and Beverage)

Global managers can specialize as product, brand, or marketing managers among other departments in a business, as well as being general managers who oversee these departments.

Technical Skills: Researching, developing, and implementing business plans to cut costs, increase revenues, and push the company towards a targeted direction. Managers are also responsible for trade compliance, acquiring appropriate import and export licenses, and monitoring regulatory developments to keep processes and procedures current with customs laws.

Soft Skills: good decision-maker skills, must be an innovator, and a good negotiator. Must be knowledgeable about consumer demand, trends, finance and trade laws, and logistics.

Salary: Anywhere from 37k-100k. Really depends on where you are to find out an average.Global Manager

Leadapplied analyticsinitiatives that are leveraged across the breadth of our solutions for restaurants. You will research, design, implement and validate cutting-edge algorithms to analyze diverse sources of data to achieve targeted outcomes. Provide expertise on mathematical concepts for the broader applied analytics team and inspire the adoption of advanced analytics and data science across the entire breadth of our organization.

Technical skills: Bayesian statistics/probability, programming, experimenting with design, SQL experience, and autonomy.

Job description: performing routine maintenance, repair and installations of all restaurant technologies. Daily duties include help desk ticket management, problem diagnosis, repair and/or replacement, as well as preventative maintenance when appropriate. Special projects include installing and troubleshooting new technologies as well as full installations at new locations. Point of Sale includes but is not limited to: POS systems, drive-thru communication and timer systems, security camera systems, music systems, etc.

Technical skills: Proven ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues and to maintain and repair equipment. Working knowledge of Windows 7 desktop operating systems. Technical support or help desk experience.

Soft skills: Possesses excellent customer service skills and capable of communicating effectively and professionally with a wide array of individuals.

Salary: Anywhere between 32k-46k depending on where you are.Point of Sale Technician

Job description: Responsible for overall project planning and scheduling, resource allocation, project accounting, and control, while providing technical direction and ensuring compliance with quality standards. Perform a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identification of resources needed. Create the teams, develop the objectives/goals of each and assign individual responsibilities. Project managers are skilled at getting the best out of the people and projects that they oversee. They thrive when planning projects and working with project teams.

Technical skills: Extensive technology based installation and roll out knowledge inside operating consumer environments. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Project accounting functions including managing the budget, tracking of team expenses and minimizing exposure and risk in the project.

Soft Skills: Strong business knowledge with objectivity to represent all interests. Excellent communication and organization skills; must be detail-oriented, articulate, and mature. Motivated/pro-active mindset, effective time management and logical decision-making ability. Ability to prioritize work. Good planning and organization skills. Manage and communicate client concerns, problems or complaints on assigned programs or projects. Creativity.

Salary: range is anywhere between 52k-124k. The median is about 85k. Project Manager (Technology and Operations)

Job description: Data specialists are information technology experts who specialize in analyzing, collecting, storing and creating electronic data. They are responsible for testing data in information systems to make sure that this data is not corrupt or inaccurate. Data is regularly compiled in reports and sent to upper management or presented at board meetings in order to aid in decision making. When performing data tests, much of the data must be harvested in order to use this data in other projects. The data specialist is also expected to act as a consultant for others who utilize the data contained in the information systems.

Technical skills: experience in Software Support, Technical Support, or similar field, solid knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Visio, and Access. Strong computer operating skills and high comfort level with various Microsoft Windows Environments, working Knowledge of networks, database structure, VPN and remote access protocols. Note taking skills. Connect remotely to client computers to diagnose and troubleshoot data transfer problems. Work with customers to identify potential issues with data integrity.

Soft skills: Detail oriented, accurately track customer activities, and have the ability to handle confidential client information. Excellent customer service, communication, telephone, and writing skills, ability to prioritize, manage time, and adapt to change. Self-confidence, energy and enthusiasm. Being able to present ideas, expectations and information in a concise, well-organized way. Establish, measure and effectively evaluate processes, policies and procedures.

Salary: 28k-80k. Usual average is about 45k.

Data Services Specialist(Technical Support)

I found that this project was pretty helpful for me to be able to think about the future. A lot of people dont believe there is anything technology related when it comes to running or working in a restaurant, but after doing my research, it has been proven that there are plenty of jobs that you can do working in the restaurant industry, and having a bachelors degree is totally worth it if you want to make the big bucks. There are so many different opportunities that you can come by if you have a bachelors degree! This gives me hope for the future that there will be a career out there that I can possibly enjoy!This project should be used in the future again because I thought it was useful to see what different technology based jobs there are out there.Value of the project
