The Red Sea

Narrator: The Mission of Moses

God: Moses, Moses!

Moses: Here I am.

God: Dont come near here. Take off your sandals. Where you are standing right

now is a holy ground.

God: Im the God of your father.

Moses: [hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.]

God: I have seen what my people in Egypt are suffering to. I have given attention

to their cries because of their hard work, for I have been aware of their sufferings.

Therefore, I will send you to pharaoh, so that you can bring the sons of Israel out

of Egypt, and they will be free.

Moses: Who am I? Why should I go to Pharaoh to bring the sons of Israel out of

Egypt?

God: Certainly, I will be with you. I will guide you. When you have brought thepeople out of Egypt, you should worship God at this mountain.

Moses: But if I will tell the sons of Israel that the God of your fathers has sent me

to you, they will ask me What is his name? How will I tell them?

God: I AM WHO I AM.

God: Tell them that I AM has sent me to you.

Narrator: When Pharaoh freed the Israelites

Narrator: Pharaoh, the Egyptian leader, used the Israelites as slaves to build his

great pyramids and monuments. However, they were plagues that caused his son

to die.

Pharaoh: [to the Israelites, sadly] Now, there are several plagues that spread

around Egypt. They are too powerful that they made my son died. Because I dont

want you guys to die, or my pyramids and monuments wouldnt be done, I will let

you go back to Israel.

Israelites, and Moses: [happily] Thank you, your majesty. We bless you the best.

Narrator: The Israelites leave.

Narrator: When Pharaoh freed the people, God led the people around by the

dessert road toward the Red Sea. Moses took Josephs bone because Joseph

made the Israelites swear an oath. He said God will help you, and you must carry

my bones with you from this place.

Narrator: Almost immediately, Pharaoh changed his mind. He commanded his

army to get the Israelites back.

Narrator: As Pharaoh approached.

Israelites: [terrified] Moses, what have you done by bringing us out of Egypt?

Leave us alone, and let us serve the Egyptians.

Moses: Dont be afraid. Stand here strongly, and you will see what God will give

you today. The Egyptians that you see now, they will not be seen again. God will

fight for you. Just be still.

God: Why are you crying out to me? Tell the sons of Israel to move on. Stretch

your hand over the sea to divide the sea so that the Israelites can walk through

dry ground.

Narrator: Moses stretched his hand over the sea, and the seas divided. Pharaohs

men followed the Israelites into the sea. God jammed the chariot wheels of the

Egyptians so that they would have difficulty in driving.

Egyptians: Lets get out of here! God is fighting for the Israelites!

Narrator: After the Israelites crossed the Red Sea

God: Moses, stretch your hand over the sea again so that the Egyptians will drown.

Narrator: Moses obeyed God, and the Egyptians drowned in the water.

Narrator: God saved Israel, and Israel saw the Egyptians lying dead on the shore.

Since then, the people were scared of God and they put their trust in God and

Moses, who is his servant.
