This newsletter is designed to help support and empower you and your child as they make their journey through Year 11 towards their GCSE examinations in Summer 2015 at Cockshut Hill College. News N0.3 - November 2014 ‘let us shine’ Raising Achievement at Cockshut Hill for Year Eleven On 4th November we were delighted to have the return of the ‘Fix up’ company! This event was designed to inspire students to aim high and succeed! Year 11 students were given the opportunity to work with ‘Fix Up Team’. The team delivered motivational talks and ran revision based workshops aimed at inspiring and building students’ confidence ahead of their Mock examinations in December. Students left the event with new learning tools and a new level of confidence and drive towards their education and successful examination results. A fantastic motivational event experienced by all students! ‘EVENT REMINDER’ Y11 English & Maths Evening Wednesday 12th - 5.30pm (Replacing calendared parents evening) An opportunity to discuss ways to support your child! Raising Achievement at Cockshut Hill for Year Eleven

On 4th November we were delighted to have the return of the ‘Fix up’ company! This event was designed to inspire students to aim high and succeed!

Year 11 students were given the opportunity to work with ‘Fix Up Team’. The team delivered motivational talks and ran revision based workshops aimed at inspiring and building students’ confidence ahead of their Mock examinations in December.

Students left the event with new learning tools and a new level of confidence and drive towards their education and successful examination results. A fantastic motivational event experienced by all students!

Start applying once you have found the course that you are happy with. You should apply to at least 4 providers so as to keep your options open!

Raising Achievement at Cockshut Hill for Year Eleven

Students from Year 11 will be selected to attend this event on the afternoon of 14th November 2014. Watch this space for the letter to come out – only 45 places available!

So – what’s it all about?The Skills Show features five amazing skill sectors so there’s something for everyone.Pupils will have the opportunity to ‘Have a Go’ in the following industry sectors:•The Building – including bricklaying, carpentry, gardening, plumbing•The Studio – including digital and gaming, design, fashion, film, music•The Works – including automotive, mechanical engineering, mobile robotics, welding•The Business – including banking, insurance, IT support, web development•The Street – culinary arts, hairdressing, retail, floristry.

There are many employers who will be on hand to chat and answer your questions. This list is not as yet completed but at present those attending are Virgin Media, Premier Inn, Aviation Skills Partnership and L’Oréal. More companies are coming on board every day!

Raising Achievement at Cockshut Hill for Year Eleven

On 3rd July 2015 your Prom will take place. This is an IMMENSE event which celebrates your years at Cockshut Hill and marks the step on to the next part of your journey as a young adult! We will be there to celebrate with you.

You will have your say about what things you want to see there. Some things have already been provisionally booked like the hotel, photographer and DJ!

However, will you actually be there?To get to the Prom you must:• Have a positive attitude to learning• Be ‘on target’ in your subjects• Have the desire to work towards this goal• Completed all your coursework• Excellent attendance• Excellent behaviour• Complete the ‘Passport to the Prom’ booklet

PASSAGE TO THE PROM IS NOT A GIVEN YOU NEED TO EARN THE RIGHT TO GO!
