And We sent down in the Quran such things in which there are a

    healing andmercyfor thebelievers (17:82)

    As an ornament do they adorn me;

Yes, they keep me and sometimes kiss me.

In their celebrations they recite me.

In disputes they swear by me.

    On shelves do they securely keep me;

Till another celebration or dispute, when they need me

Yes, they read me and memorise me.

Yet only an ornament am I.My message lies neglected, my treasure untouched

The field lies bare, where blossomed once true glory

Wrong is the treatment that I receive

So much to give have I, but none is there to perceive

The Glorious Quran serves as an inspiration to millions of Muslims

whoregardit as a boundless reservoir of guidance andhope. The

Quran shapes our thinking and determines our values. It

provides comfort to the anxious, hope to the despondent, courage to the

faint-hearted, faith to the despairing and direction to the confused. The

glorious Quran serves as the fountain of wisdom which nourishes the

spirit, the mind and the heart. It is a healing for our broken spirit, a mercy

    forthe Believers andforgiveness forthe wayward.

    TheQuran hasdescribesitselfas:

And hold fast all together to the Rope of Allah.

    (3:103)

A Book We have sent down to you so that

you may bring forth mankind from the darkness into the light......

    (14:1)

We have sent down to you (O Muhammad) in

truth so that you might judge between men as guided by Allah.

    (4:105)

    Truth has come and

error hasvanished; verily error is fleeting. (27:73)

O mankind! Verily there has come

to youa convincingproofand a light from your Sustainer(4:174)

    Lo! This Quran guides to

that which is most upright. (17:9)

The Quran serves as the foundation of our faith, the Word of Allah, the

final and complete revelation, the foundation and framework of Islamic

law, the source of Islamic thought and action. The Quran is best described

in the words of our Master Nabi who said: "(It is) the Book of Allah in

which there is information of those before you, prophesies of what will

happen after you and judgment of what is (presently) among you. It is

decisive, not amusing entertainment. Whoever shuns it repressively will be

destroyed by Allah. Whoever seeks guidance from other than it will be left

    to stray by Allah.

The Quran is the unbreakable rope of (rescue) from Allah; it is the (Dhikr)

remembrance full of wisdom and the straight path. Affection to it will not

mislead, nor will tongues become weary by it, nor will the scholars feel

satiated by it, nor will it loose its sanctity on account of repeated recitation.

Its wonders never cease, it is the very the Book that when the Jinn heard it

they were constrained to declare: We have undoubtedly heard an amazing

Quran that guides to rightouesness, we accordingly believe in it...

Whoever speaks by it is truthful, whoever acts by it will be rewarded,

whoever judges by it is just and whoever calls to it will be guided to the

straight path (Tirmidhi)Man is the subject of the Quran. It narrates the story of man as an integral

whole it describes all the stages of mans journey to his ultimate

destination-- birth, life, death, resurrection and the judgment of his deeds.

"It is a Book We have sent down to you, full of blessing, so let people of

intelligence ponder its Signs and take heed." (38:29) How do we enjoy the

blessings of the Quran and how do we ponder and take heed from the

    Quran?The sixprimary functionsof theQuranare:

Verily the one who recites the Quran

beautifully, smoothly, and precisely, he will be in the company of the

noble and obedient angels. And as for the one who recites with

difficulty, stammering or stumbling through its verses, then he will

have TWICE that reward. (Bukhari andMuslim)

    Will they not then

ponderover this Quran or arethere locks upon their hearts? (47:24)

    When Allah and His

Messenger have decreed a matter, it is not for a believing man and a

believing woman to claim freedom of choicerhave an option insofar as

they themselves are concerned. Whoever disobeys God and His

Messenger has evidently gone astray. (33:36)

And when he (Nabi ) recited the

verses which referred to the Glory of Allah, he glorified Him, the Great,

and when he recited the verses that mention supplication, he

supplicated, and when he recited the Verses that mention seeking

Refuge of theRabb he sought(His)Refuge. (Muslim)

Those who believe and whose hearts

find rest in the remembrance of Allah, verily, in the remembrance of f

    Allah do heartsfind rest. (13:28)

The best of you are those who

    learn theQuran andteachit (Bukhari)

MayAllah Taaala grant us the ability to embrace theQuran with our hearts

    and souls.
