• We are usualy discussing about websites design, graphs, infographichs, and so on…. And the use of the color is always present, even if not explicitly.

• We care about accessibility and usability.

• We care about the design interface on diferent devices.

• We care and define guides to present statistics.

But we often do not bear in mind that color is not seen by everyone the same way!

COMUNICATION – “...it´s all about colours” Colours are determinant in communication. It is known that individuals access 70% faster the communicated information when colours are used. Red and Green are the most relevant colours used in Global Communication, including a wide range of services, traffic guidance, geographic maps, on/off buttons and infinitive more segments and situations worldwide.

Red and Green are the colours most commonly related in colorblindness or color confusion. Colorblind individuals have daily challenges that induce psychological and social discomfort. Feelings range from sense of dependence, to difficulties in social integrating, psychological insecurity, bad school performance or unsatisfactory professional integration.

Statistics Portugal will adopt this color language code, not only because we recognize a great potential in its use, but also we want to be associated to this project of social inclusion.

The conditions of use of this code are subject to annual or multi-annual licensing.

However, it should be kept in mind that the best graphics, infographics, etc., will always be those that do not require chromatic decoding.
