THE PURPOSE

OF LIFE

What on earth am I on earth for?

Jeremiah 20:18 Why was I ever born? For my life has been but trouble and sorrow and shame. Possessions? Power? Prestige?

What on earth am I on earth for?

Proverbs 16:4 (AMP)

The LORD has made everything for its own purpose,

Q1. Why am I Alive? Ephesians 1:4-6 (MSG) Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.

Q1. Why am I Alive? Before God created the earth, we were on

His mind!

To show us His incredible love for us. God is love Perfect love in the Trinity (The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit).

Q1. Why am I Alive? What was the overriding motive for God in

creating us?

GOD CREATED ME TO LOVE ME!

Q2. Does my Life matter

or make any difference? Isaiah 49:4 I replied, “But my work seems so useless! I have spent my strength for nothing and to no purpose.” Without purpose, life is trivial & pointless made for purpose and meaning

Q2. Does my Life matter

or make any difference? SIGNIFICANCE: more important and lasting

than status and success, position, possession power and prestige.

TRUE SIGNIFICANCE: comes from fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives. lasts forever

Q2. Does my Life matter

or make any difference? Isaiah 44:2 I am your Creator. You were in my care even before you were born. Not just in God’s mind but in God’s care He had planned for your birth and your life

(despite human errors). You are NOT an accident!

Q2. Does my Life matter

or make any difference? Psalm 139:16 You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!

Every single day. Every detail.

That’s how much you matter to God!

Q2. Does my Life matter

or make any difference? Psalm 33:11 His plans endure forever; His purposes last eternally.

This life is preparation for eternity God made me to last forever! “I put you on earth to ‘practice’ what you

are going to do for the rest of eternity.”

Q2. Does my Life matter

or make any difference? 2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that when this tent we live in — our body here on earth — is torn down, God will have a house in heaven for us to live in, a home he himself has made, which will last forever.

Q3. What is my Purpose? Psalm 89:47b Why did you create us? For nothing?

To know the purpose of an invention, ask the inventor. To know the purpose of our life, ask our Creator God who made us.

Q3. What is my Purpose? Proverbs 9:10b Knowing God results in every other kind of understanding. The more we know God,

the more we understand life’s purpose.

I FIND MY PURPOSE IN GOD

Q3. What is my Purpose? Colossians 1:15-16 (MSG) We look at this Son and see the God who cannot be seen. We look at this Son and see God’s original purpose in everything created. For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible, rank after rank after rank of angels — everything got started in him and finds its purpose in him.

Q3. What is my Purpose? Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. Life is about God, not you or me. In Christ, we find out who we are and what

we are living for.

God’s Purposes for us

are found in Christ

1. To Be One Body In God’s Family (Enjoy Fellowship) Ephesians 1:5 having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,

God’s Purposes for us

are found in Christ

Romans 12:5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.

3. To Bear Fruit Unto Good Works (Exercise Faith) Ephesians 2:10 For we are His workmanship,

created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Philippians 2:12-13 ... work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

God’s Purposes for us

are found in Christ

Regardless of our status (rich or poor) and position (vocation, career, business) … God is love, so we love one another. God serves, so we serve one another. God gives, so we give cheerfully. God forgave through Christ, so we forgive. God bears with us, so we bear with others

If the Law reveals who God is under the Old Covenant,

then under the New Covenant, believers who bear the image of Christ

reveals who God is to the world!
