The Crucible : Topics Project (100 points) The Crucible is a drama written by Arthur Miller in 1953. The play takes place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. The play is based on the actual Salem witch trials of the time, but also comments on more contemporary issues as well. In order to grasp a full understanding of the various layers of the text, we will be dividing into six (6) groups to research and present on six key topics related to the text. The topics include: 1. The Puritans 2. The Salem Witch Trials 3. The Protestant Reformation 4. Religion 5. Arthur Miller 6. McCarthyism Requirements: Your group will create a Google Slideshow to present this information to the class. Your slide show must be creative and, of course, accurate. Each slide must contain a visual aide. All members of the group must take an active role in the project. This includes the research, the presentation, and the delivery. You must answer all of the questions for your assignment. All websites and sources will be cited according to MLA format. Your final slide will be a “Works Cited” slide. You may not cite Wikipedia, though you can use it as a starting point. Verify your information by using the EDHS Library catalogues online and by using .edu websites. Presentations should be approximately five minutes in length.

The Crucible : Topics Project(100 points)

The Crucible is a drama written by Arthur Miller in 1953. The play takes place in Salem, Massachusetts in 1692. The play is based on the actual Salem witch trials of the time, but also comments on more contemporary issues as well. In order to grasp a full understanding of the various layers of the text, we will be dividing into six (6) groups to research and present on six key topics related to the text.

Requirements:Your group will create a Google Slideshow to present this information to the class. Your

slide show must be creative and, of course, accurate.

○ Each slide must contain a visual aide.

the research, the presentation, and the delivery.

○ You must answer all of the questions for your assignment.

○ All websites and sources will be cited according to MLA format. Your final slide

○ Your presentation will be graded on the following: Content, Organization,

Creativity, and Delivery (see rubric).

○ While other groups are presenting, you will be taking notes. Pay very close

attention because there will be a quiz!!

can be read as an allegory to Joseph McCarthy and his hunt for communism in

American society during the 1950’s.
