THE PROHIBITION OF MUTAH MARRIAGE

FRIDAY SERMON

• Dear brothers, may the blessings of Allah be upon you.

• Let us have taqwa to Allah SWT with true taqwa. Hopefully this makes us with devoted servants who truly believe in Allah SWT thus not making shirk with something else.

• Allah says in surah al-Nisaa verse 59:

• Which means:

• O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is the best [way] and best in result.

• Dear brothers,

• No doubt, marriage in Islam has a significant meaning. It is not just sexual relationship between husband and wife, but what is more important is protecting the lineage and family relationship.

• So that it is not tainted by element of zina and the likes. Mut’ah marriage or contractual marriage is one of the things that is destroying the basis of family for the sake of satisfying one’s evil desires.

• It is being classed as vain acts explained in Surah al-Mu’minun verse 1-3 being read earlier which means:

• “Certainly will the believers have succeeded. They who are during their prayer humbly submissive. And they who turn away from ill speech.”

• Dear brothers,

• The Shiites make it legalize the Mut’ah marriage. The Mut’ah marriage here means marriage that is based on agreement and contract, length of time and dowry.

• Among the features of Mut’ah marriage are:

• First: Length of time

• According to the Shia, mut’ah marriage must be determined the length of time which must be agreed by both parties such as one month or one year or one day or one night or one hour.

• The determination of time here according to their scholars is based on mutual agreement between the couple.

• What is being done is contradicting to the true Islamic basis. Again, for the sake of satisfying one’s desire, they legalized the mut’ah marriage.

• The effect of this thing is the promotion of prostitution, even worse than that, is the neglecting of children resulting from this relationship.

• Similarly, this period seems to facilitate the divorce process, whereas divorce is something that is hated.

• Second: No need of witnesses, guardian and declarations.

• According to the teachings and beliefs Shia, mut’ah marriage does not require witnesses, guardian and declaration.

• Only in the event of allegations of adultery, then they encouraged to submit two witnesses.

• This means that mut’ah wedding can be done in secret between man and woman without disseminating it to the public.

• While the main purpose of Islamic law in making the witness and guardian as the pillar of marriage is to ensure that the rights of parents and children is taken care and declaration of responsibility shift to the new family.

• Third: It is permissible between couple from different religion

• According to the teachings and beliefs Shia, mut’ah marriage is not necessarily with Muslims only, but can be done with Jews, Christians, Zoroastrians women, a girl without the father permission and female prostitutes.

• Mut’ah marriage with woman of different religion is judged merely makruh, but not prohibited.

• Mut’ah marriage with a prostitute, they regard it as an attempt to prevent from committing adultery.

• This matter is in conflict with the Islamic law among them is the verse in surah Baqarah verse 221:

• Which means:

• And do not marry polytheistic men [to your women] until they believe.

• Forth: With any limitation

• According to the teachings and beliefs Shia, mut’ah marriage can be done with unlimited number pairs.

• Even their scholars say that an unspecified number of women can be contracted, it can be done up to a thousand women. They assume that women as a rental item.

• It is also contrary to Islamic law which set the number of women who can be married is a total of 4 women, as Allah says in Surah al-Nisaa verse 3:

• Which means:

• And if you fear that you will not deal justly with the orphan girls, then marry those that please you of [other] women, two or three or four. But if you fear that you will not be just, then [marry only] one or those your right hand possesses. That is more suitable that you may not incline [to injustice].

• Dear brothers.

• Although in the early development of Islam, mut’ah marriage is permissible but when seen it has adversely effect on Islam, the mut’ah marriage was banned by the Prophet Muhammad forever until the Day of Resurrection.

• Even the hadiths that say about this ban was reported by Hazrath Ali himself, which is reported by Ibn Majah that the Prophet s.a.w. said in a hadith:

• “O people, I had permitted you Mutah before, [but now] whoever of you has any part in it currently must part with her, and do not take back anything which you may have given them, as Allah Exalted and Majestic has forbidden it until the day of resurrection.”

• Remember, beliefs and teachings Shias are conflicting and diverging from the Ahlu Sunnah wal Jamaah teaching that could be a threat to the unity of mankind, the integrity of religion, unity and peace in the country.

• Therefore, the beliefs and teachings of the Shia must be blocked entirely from expanding in the state of Johor.

• Indeed, marriage is not a marriage mut’ah by Islamic Law. In fact it is a pagan practice.

• Female mut’ah not considered wives but cannot inherit, no blood relation and no maintenance is required.

• Sayyidina Umar regarded as adultery. Let us together reject this deviated teaching of Shia and continue to follow the true creed, the teaching of Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jama’ah.

• “And verily, this is my Straight Path, so follow it, and follow not (other) paths, for they will separate you away from His Path. This He has ordained for you that you may become Al-Muttaqun.”
