The Roman Catholic Church grew very powerful during the medieval and even until the 16th century in Europe but because of its influence and potency it became so corrupt and the Popes lived evil lives.

The Catholic Encyclopedia recorded these Popes and the crimes they engaged while in the papal office.

He bitterly opposed the sale of indulgences and adamantly stressed the message of Saint Paul to the Romans 1:17 that

" For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live in faith."

Pope Leo X ordered the excommunication of Luther but with the help of his friend Philip Melanchton, they gathered a number of followers and as years passed Protestanism(Lutherianism) became the official religion of many European country.

• Translation of the Bible into German.• Publication of hymns catechisms both for

the children and adults

Other historians said that his influences and ideals came from " Letter to the Majors and Aldermen of all Cities of Germany in Behalf of Christian Schools" and " Sermon on Duty of Sending Children to School"

Melanchtons's Educational Contribution

Melanchton was considered as the " Preceptor of Germany" because he was the most popular professor at Wittenburg.

He organized athe school system of the state which was know as the Saxony Plan which was based on "The Report" or "Book of Visitation"
