THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Greetings to all (Pastors, Churches, Associations and Conventioneers),

It is in the exalted, Holy name of Jesus Christ, I, submit to you this greeting. This year is one of transition as we share in fellowship and witness of God’s Abundant Grace. I welcome you to the 108th Annual Session of the Florida State Primitive Baptist Convention. It has been a blessed Christian experience for me to serve you for the past six years. God has granted us favor in all of our endeavors as we continue to holdfast with the faith of our forefathers knowing that all things are possible in Christ Jesus.

As your brother and President, I am requesting that all conventioneers join together in fellowship with Vice Moderator Elder Isaiah Ellis and the North Central District P. B. Association in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Let us join our Host in making this session our faithful fruit in action. They have excelled in their efforts to host this great Convention. I trust that this session will be among the highest attended, spiritually inspired and financially supported. Remembering that we are here to do the Master’s will, let us stay focused, Jesus Christ is the objective of our gathering. I am looking forward to personally greeting you at the 108th Session.

Your Brother in Christ, In His Service,

Edward Buckner, D. D. Elder Edward Buckner, D. D., General President Florida State Primitive Baptist Convention

THE CLOSING HYMN:

“Shall We Gather At The River?”

Shall we gather at the river, Where bright angel-feet have trod;

With its crystal tide forever Flowing by the throne of God?

Yes, We’ll gather at the river,

The beautiful, the beautiful river— Gather with the saints at the river

That flows by the throne of God. BENEDICTION AND BLESSING: The Grace of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, be with the spirits of our departed saints. And now, may the peace of God which passeth all understanding keep our hearts and minds in the knowledge of God and of His Son, Jesus Christ; the blessing of God Almighty, The Father, Jesus Christ, The Son, and The Holy Ghost, The Comforter: be among us and remain with us eternally. Amen.

Order of Service for Saints Departed

Leader: I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord. He that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Invocation: O eternal God and master of all things, grant us the deep consciousness of thy presence that the spirit of Christianity may forever direct our thinking, guide and control our hearts and activities so that we may eternally be disciples of thine and render unselfish service to mankind. Most gracious father, sometimes we who bemoan the parting of loved ones are pained by heartaches, and scorned by some as they were: sometimes, we come to mountains in our lives that are hard to climb as our loved ones did: However, we realize that we promised as they promised to keep on climbing for we are assured that you will help us to stand and have the courage to run all the way. Most merciful Father, lead us gently home so that we may join our departed loved ones in the mansion you have prepared for us all. Amen. HYMN:

“Servant of God, Well Done” Servant of God, well done:

Rest from thy loved employ; The battle fought, the victory won,

Enter thy master’s joy.

The voice at midnight came; He started up to hear;

A mortal arrow pierced his frame; He fell, but felt no fear.

Soldier of Christ, well done; Praise be thy new employ;

And while eternal ages run, Rest in thy Saviour’s joy.

Scripture: John 14:1-6; Revelation 21:6

THE ROLL CALL OF THE DEPARTED SAINTS AND THE LIGHTING OF CANDLES:

(One for each saint as name is called) The Litany

Leader: O Father of life and giver of light, look with favor upon thy creatures here assembled: Congregation: And grant us thy blessing: Leader: O thou, who has led man through the ages of his existence upon earth

by thy spirit: Congregation: Grant us thy continued guidance: Leader: Thou who dost generate love and goodness in our hearts, and the

desire for fellowship one with the other in life’s living: Congregation: Increase thy spirit in us. Leader: Thou who hast called our brothers and sisters from their tasks to the

reward of noble thoughts and deeds: Congregation: Deepen our memory of them, we pray: Leader: Thou who art the light of the new heaven, the new earth, the new

Jerusalem, the Alpha and Omega and beginning and the end of all creation:

Congregation: Grant a final resting place with thee to all whom thou hast called and finally to ourselves.

Leader: The Lord be with you: Congregation: And with thy spirit. Amen. Words of Tribute: (Ten Minutes)
