GREETERS NEEDED Let us welcome our brothers and sisters in Christ as they come to mass. This is an excellent opportunity for people in high school and older to be involved. If you are friendly and a social person, please consider volunteering. Spending just a few minutes greeting parishioners and welcoming newcomers each a week could have a true impact. Please contact Mike Iozzo to sign up or for more information at [email protected].

Fundraising is an important part of what helps Visitation School to operate daily. TEN percent of our operating

budget comes from fundraising.

Enjoy a wonderful evening out at the Galaxy Gala while helping our students!

Can’t attend? Donate something toward our live or silent auctions! We are accepting sports and event tickets, gift

cards, vacation stays, skilled services and more.

Go to visgala2020.givesmart.com or call Visitation School at 630-834-4931 for more information.

FLOCKNOTE—IT’S NOT JUST FOR

COMMUNICATING!

Yes, Flocknote is a wonderful

communication tool for those who are

involved in parish ministries.

But Flocknote is MORE than that. It is

Visitation’s new parish registry system. This new system

counts every adult parishioner individually, so those who

are married need to register separately, with a unique

phone number or email.

Numbers are vital in determining the number of priests

we have here at Visitation. Please, take two minutes

and register if you haven’t already done so.

Go to visitationparish.org and click on the sheep or text

JOINVIS to 84576 on your cell phone.

Need help? Call the rectory at 630-834-6700. We are

happy to help!

Revisit the Presentation of the Lord The Presentation of the Lord is celebrated on February

2nd, 2020 and is 40 days after Christmas. On this day,

we celebrate the presentation of Jesus in the Temple in

Jerusalem. According to Jewish law at that time, the first

born son belonged to God. Parents of the first born male

child were expected to offer a sacrifice when they

presented their child in the Temple. When Mary and

Joseph presented Jesus, they offered a sacrifice of two

turtledoves. They met a man named Simeon who

instantly recognized Baby Jesus as the Messiah. They

also met Anna, a prophetess. “At that moment, she

came and began to speak about the child to all who were

looking for the redemption of Jerusalem” (Luke 2:38).

This day is also known as Candlemas Day, the day on

which candles are blessed symbolizing Christ who is the

“Light of the World.” We also celebrate World Day for

Consecrated Life from February 1st-2nd. Saint John Paul

II wrote of the different forms of consecrated life as "the

many branches which sinks its roots into the Gospel and

brings forth abundant fruit in every season of the

Church's life." These diverse forms include: Monastic

Life, the Orders of Virgins, Hermits, and Institutes

completely devoted to contemplation, Apostolic

Religious Life, Secular Institutes, Societies of Apostolic

Life, and new or renewed forms of the consecrated life

(cf. Vita Consecrata, 6-12).

Revisit this day when Mary, Joseph, Simeon, and

Anna gazed upon Baby Jesus, the Light of the World,

when He was presented in the Temple by visiting the

Adoration Chapel. You, too, can gaze upon the “Light of

the World” in the Blessed Sacrament, the True Presence

of Jesus. Come out of the cold and feel Jesus lighten

your soul and feel the warmth of His Love for you.

Also, pray for all who live a consecrated life that they

may always have the “Light of the Lord” shine brightly

in their hearts, minds, and souls.

Sunday 1 AM and Wednesday 3PM are empty hours.

The following hours are in need of a prayer partner:

Tuesday 7AM and Thursday 7AM

Feast Of St. Blaise Monday, February 3

For many centuries St. Blaise has

been the patron saint of those with

ailments of the throat.

A general Blessing of the throats will

be given Monday, during the 6:15 and

8:15 AM Masses.
