Money is obviously a great thing to give, but if

you are going to be a healthy giver of money,

you will need to examine your feelings about it.

And in order to have more to share, you will

need to develop skills to manage your moneymore wisely.

Money is neither bad nor good. It is often used

for good(feeding your family, protecting others),

but it can also be used for evil(as a means ofcontrol or an object of unhealthy obsession).

One of the most lasting and valuable gifts you

can give yourself is Money management skills.

Charity begins at home. Start by loving

yourself. It is not wrong to give to yourself. To

look after others, you have to look afteryourself first.

Make a conscious effort to give daily to your

family. It forms the foundation of your giving.

Children hold the power to make our world

better and our future bright and peaceful. The

best gift we can give to our children is to teach

them to give.We build heart fiber in our children by giving

them the values and virtues that built a strong

    character.

The short answer is . . . today.

The reality is that you can give all times.

No matter what or how much you give, when

you give whole-heartedly and with goodintentions you set in motion a powerful

    force.

Giving in hardship- it makes easier to give

when times are good. That is the power ofgiving for the giver.

There are 3 areas that you need to evaluate

before you can decide where you want to

    give. These areas are:

Your emotions, values and motivations Your skills

The other resources you have to give (time,

    connections etc.)

How much can you give is related to your

    personal circumstances.

Lets examine two of the gifts that most

people offer: money and time.Craig OBrien, minister at a Baptist church

in Vancouver, Canada, believes in tithing-

    giving 1/10 of his income.

He says that we have to analyze how wespend the other 90% of our money if we

want to maximize our positive impact on our

    society.

It means increasing what you give by 1% each

    year until you reach 10%.

We call it escalator because its easy,

smooth, and your giving goes up. So if you give 2% last year, try 3% this year.

You may find this so easy that you will start

adding 2% a year until you reach your target.

Youll be surprised at how generous you are,and how easy it is.

Little giving is planned with twoexpectations.

The first is monthly giving- a convenient wayfor donors to give. The principle behind

monthly giving is that, you set aside 10% ofyour income as savings for your future. Thenyou deduct another 10% to be donated togood causes. You live on the rest. The

process works at every income level. The second is the field of legacies or

bequests, annuities, opening an advisedfund at a community or public foundation.
