The ancients named Venus after the goddess of love and beauty because it is the brightest planet.

Venus is known as Earth’s twin because

they are close in size. This is and ultraviolet picture of Venus that

makes it look like Earth. But really the two are

nothing alike.

Venus is covered with clouds of toxic gas and winds as strong as a hurricane. It is also packed with lighting.

It’s hotter than Texas! The temperature can get up to 900°F.
