• They beat animal hides until they turned into leather.

• They wore War Bonnets, and used buffalo tails as decorations on them.

• The women wore buffalo skin dresses. • Both men and women wore moccasins. And

buffalo skin satchels.

• They preformed ceremonies such as the sun dance.

• They worshiped a lot of gods, they thought they revealed themselves as the sun, moon, and stars.

• They saw eagles as gods messenger.

Shelter

• The plains Indians lived in teepees. • The teepees would keep them warm in the

winter and cool in the summer. • A hole is in the top of the teepee so when

they cook the smoke goes out.• They decorated their houses with paintings of

animals and symbols.

Fun Facts

• Sioux warriors stayed on the move, they attacked quickly and if they felt like they were loosing they drew back.

• When the men got married they would kill a buffalo and bring the hides home so the wife could make the teepee.

• The plains Indians believed names possessed magical powers.
