ABOUT US “Wings of Change”! Over the last one decade, the
Indian society has witnessed a paradigm shift as
far as the preference of career options and
opportunities for women are concerned. The sole
intent is to empower the students to face the
professional world with befitting adroitness in
every possible way. As the name, “WINGS”
connotes the soaring aspirations of the students,
their indomitable spirits to reach sky and beyond.
As a part of campus engagements, several of our
students have been selected by reputed
organizations such as Genpact, Tata Power Delhi
Distribution Limited, Adroit Financial Services Pvt.
Ltd., Binary Semantics (for permanent deputation
to Google India),Yes Bank, Fork and Spoon, Go
Ads, and Laurent and Benon. Further, companies
such as American Express, EXL–Operations
Management and Analytics, Smartprix, Aditya
Birla Financial Services, Human First Consulting
Pvt. Ltd., Urban Clap, RFCL, Indian Express, HDFC
Bank, Times Internet, Zomato, eWards, Inkpot,
and ML Books International have also expressed
an interest to hire our students. Next, with regard
to placements through the Central Placement Cell
(University of Delhi), Wipro, Infosys,TechGinee,
Fidelity National Information Services for the
process of Google AdWords, FRR Forex Pvt. Ltd.,
Amazon India, IndiGo, British Telecom Global
Business Services, Heritage Schools, Tech
Mahindra, Mera Job India, Shaadi. Com have
shortlisted/selected our students.
The placement cell is also associated with various
internship portals such as Internshala,
Interntheory and Sociowash. Furthermore, DU
Student Interns Scheme 2017 (University of Delhi),
Orange Octopus, Eat My News, TopYaps, OYO
Rooms, The Testament, Weekendr (The Skill
School), Dadpreneur, Connect2India, Nearbuy,
Cream Feeds, Career 360, The Financial Doctors,
cefy, Sociowash, PAGES and many more have
invited our students for summer internship
programs. Students have also been invited for
fellowship opportunities through Teach For India
and Gandhi Fellowship Program.
Wings has an interactive corner on the college
website and an informative Facebook page, along
with a LinkedIn account to update the students of
the activities of the placement cell and also,
create a connect with leading companies to seek
out placement/internship opportunities.

The Placement Cell “WINGS” of Lakshmibai College,
University of Delhi started its operations with generation
of google form for students of all three years. The
purpose of this form was to collect details of students
like, area of interest for internship, desired job profile,
special achievements, contact information, etc. This
information plays a vital role for the team to ascertain
the fields and the type of companies to invite suiting the
demand of the registered students. Around 120 students
registered themselves with the placement cell for
placement as well as internship.
Not only does the placement cell helps students to get
desired job and internships but also guides them to
choose the best alternative in the field of academics like,
going for masters.
INTERNSHIP WITH SLICEPAY SlicePay is a digital credit vault for college students
which helps them buyy products on monthly instalments
and pay over time. They can use SlicePay to recharge
their Paytm wallets using SlicePay credit and book
tickets, taxis, recharge and shop online.
An internship drive was organised for the students on
the 16th
of January, 2019. The drive began with an
orientation followed by personal interview.
SlicePay offered internship for marketing profile and
incentives provided by them included a certificate and
performance based stipend.
A total of 26 students registered for the internship
and 11 of them got selected with immediate
commencement of the internship.
IMPROVING EMPLOYABILITY
SKILLS FOR A BETTER
FUTURE SEMINAR
A one day seminar on Improving
Employability Skills for a better Future was
organised by the placement cell on 24th
January 2019. Purpose of the seminar was
to engage the students in the discussion
related to various career opportunities and
the skills necassary for a job.
Very soon the students will embark on a
new yet unknown trajectory where they
might find themselves baffled with
questions regarding career options and
opportunities. In today’s competitive and
globalised world, merely procuring
knowledge is not enough; one needs a
special set of skills to sail through the
challenging demands of time. Therefore, it
is necessary to evaluate one’s strength and
weakness both to achieve the goal in
professional life. This seminar is a humble
endeavour at providing a glimpse into all
these areas and to stipulate a platform for
the students where they get to observe,
learn and participate in various junctures
of Job opportunities –namely, Civil
Services and Competitive Exams; Teaching
and Research; Entrepreneurship/
Corporate Management; Journalism and
Media.
PURPOSE OF THE SEMINAR:
1. To develop an attitude of skill-building
amongst students To create awareness about
the ever-changing Job opportunities in India
and abroad.
2. To make them acquaint with “ peer-
counselling” as an effective strategy for
steppingd in the professional world.
3. To build confidence and prepare them for
various challenges like “stressmanagement,
team-building and leadership goals in
professional capacity. Above all, the seminar
aims at stimulating the young minds, and to
quote Swami Vivekananda
“Fear is a cage where you are locked up and
Faith is the key to freedom.”
The seminar was broadly classified into four
categories:
1. Civil services and other competitive
exams
Speaker: Dr. Arvind Singh
Dr. Arvind is affiliated with AFHQ, Civil Services,
and at present is Director in Defence Headquarters
Training Institute, Ministry of Defence. He holds
twenty years of experience in training and
administration in civil services. He has conducted
training programmes in organizations like Civil
Aviation, NIFM, HCL, Power Grid, Indian Army,
Indian Air Force, and D.U Teachers’ CPDHE. His
area of expertise includes Team Building,
Leadership, Emotional Intelligence; Values based
Management, Personal Effectiveness, Public
Speaking, Stress Management, Presentation Skill,
Creative Problem Solving, Self-renewal, Personality
and Effective Projection etc.
2. Teaching, training and research
Speaker: Dr. Amrita Shilpi
Dr Shilpi is affiliated with Lakshmibai College,
where she works as an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Political Science. She has more than
seven years of teaching experience to her credit.
Having done her higher studies from institutions
like B.H.U and J.N.U, she went on to procure
several fellowships and publications. Her
fellowships include UGC Junior Research Fellowship
and Doctoral Fellowship from International Food
Policy Research Institute, Washington. She is
currently working as a Co-project Director in ICSSR
funded Research Program on “Evolution and
Implication of article 370,” along with various other
research projects. She has been actively engaged
with the electronic media like television and radio
and worked as a voice over artist in BBC World
Service Trust, BBC Media Action India Limited, All
India Radio and even as a television anchor for
Doordarshan.
3. Entrepreneurship Skills
a. How To Become An Entreprenuer?
Speaker: Dr. S. Lakshmi Devi
Dr. Devi has been a former alumni of Miranda
House College wherefrom she had obtained a
Master’s degree in Botany and the founder
Principal of Shaheed Rajguru College of Applied
Science, University of Delhi. She is an educationist
and has worked ceaselessly for the upliftment of
women. In her time she had established EDP cells
in colleges and conduct Entrepreneurship
programs and has remained the Honorary Director
at the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Career
Oriented Programs at the University of Delhi. She is
further associated with organizations as such
Women’s Education World Wide and Women in
Public Service Project. She has a number of
publications in the relevant area as well to her
credit.
b. How To Become A Corporate Manager?
Speaker: Ms. Monica Gupta
Dr. Gupta has completed a degree of
Instrumentation in Applied Sciences and a
management degree from Jagan Institute of
Management Studies. She had started her career
with pharmaceutical company with the profile of a
sales and marketing professional. She had worked
with organisations like Microsoft and Canon in the
year 2000. Later she had worked with Wipro,
Honda, India TV and had led the digital division of
an advertising agency before finally moving on to
Entrepreneurship with ten years of experience. At
present, she is the Director of her Entrepreneurial
Brain-child “Interactive Bees” working with
managerial acumen and experienced insight.
4. Journalism and Media
Speaker: Dr. Manish Kumar
Having procuring his education from institutions
like Sainik School Tilaiya, Hazaribagh and
Doctorate degree in International Politics from JNU
, he went on to become the Editor and co-
ordinator for Chauthi Duniya, an e-paper. He had
been a part of Chauthi Duniya from 2008 till the
present time. Previously he had procured the
position of Senior Producer in Triveni Media
Limited and India TV and has the required
experience and excellence relevant in the field of
Media and Journalism.
PEER COUNSELLING
Main purpose of the seminar organized by
the placement cell is to make students
acquaint with "peer- counselling" as an
effective strategy for stepping on the
professional world. Peer counselors use a
set of unique tools to help others reach
their goals. Counselors practice active
listening by giving their complete
attention to what someone is saying, and
they respond without judgement.
Facilitative questioning is used to help
peers talk about feelings, explore issues
and find solutions.
Students interested for this counselling
have to give a minimum of eight hour
training to atleast 2 peer. The best
counselor will get the “Institutional
Social Responsibility Ambassador”
certificate.
OUR PRIDE We take immense pride in announcing our
recruiters and collaborations-
TATA POWER: 8 of our talented students got placed with
TATA POWER. 3 students from Philosophy(H),
3 from English(H), 1 from BA(P) and another
from Political Science(H).
TCS:
TCS conducted a Pan India online test in the
month of February, and 7 of our third year
students passed with flying colors and are
currently waiting for their joining letters.
EAT MY NEWS:
The registration for Eat My News(EMN) is
going on for an amazing and enriching
internship opportunity.
SLICEPAY:
SlicePay conducted an internship drive, 26
students applied for the same and 11 students
got selected for an internship.
INTERNSHALA:
The cell has collaborated with a huge online
internship portal, Internshala. All the
registered students will get an account where
they can look for some amazing courses, job
and internship opportunities awaiting.

“WINGS” is currently planning to organize a
job fair for third year students in the month of
March and for this we are currently contacting
suitable companies and recruitment agencies.

The cell is planning to organise a session on
writing and communication skills for HR
interviews, public speaking and official
communication and to conduct an interactive
session on the importance of liberal arts
education in today's era in advancing career.
