I. The Person and Nature of the
Holy Spirit
• “The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, fully divine.”
•Not “it” but “He”
II. The Work of the Holy Spirit
1. He is a Spirit of Biblical Inspiration
2 Peter 1:21 “…because no prophecy ever came by the will of man; instead moved by the Holy Spirit, men spoke from God.”
2. He brings Conviction
John 16:8 “When He comes, He will convict the world about sin, righteousness, and judgment.”
3. He affects Regeneration
John 3:5-6“Unless someone is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God…”
4. He seals and indwells believers
• Ephesians 1:13-14
• Romans 8:9
5. He teaches believers John 14:26 “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit—the Father will send Him in My name—will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have told you.
6. He makes Intercession for believers
Romans 8:26-27“… the Spirit also joins to help in our weakness, because we do not know what to pray for as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for … the saints according to the will of God.”
7. The Holy Spirit empowers God’s people for witnessing
Acts 1:8“You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me…”

III. Our Response to the Holy Spirit
1. We are to be Filled by Him
Ephesians 5:18“And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to ⌊ ⌋reckless actions, but be filled with the Spirit.”
• Command • “Passive” – we
don’t fill ourselves, but allow ourselves to be filled
2. We are to produce His Fruit
