Principal’s Report Welcome to the last week of Term 2. These past two terms have

been the most interesting and unpredictable of my career and

everyday I’m so impressed by how well our school community

has adjusted and coped with all of the restrictions and

interruptions. Thank you to all the parents that were able to

Zoom in to our second Whole School Assembly on Friday. The

Primary captains did a terrific job hosting the assembly, our

SRC students gave a brief but informative report about what

their plans are for the rest of 2020 and the Kindergarten performance was very

entertaining. Who would have thought that counting backwards from 20 could

be so active and adorable?! Congratulations to Archer Meehan and Hayley Writer

on receiving Student of the Month awards. It was also mentioned during the

assembly that we are thrilled that Miss Pearsall will remain as the Year 4 teacher

for the rest of the year as Miss Rich had to return to Armidale due to ill health.

This week we have an online study day for HSC Biology, with more days planned

for other subjects, up until the trial exams. We also have a number of Staff

Network meetings this week, giving staff the opportunity to plan for next term.

We are hoping that the NSW Education Department’s restrictions continue to

reduce and we can offer more extracurricular activities next term, like debating,

study days, sport, wellbeing afternoons and outside performances and

workshops.

On Friday, the whole school will take part in Jump Rope for Heart activities and a

very excited Kindergarten class will be celebrating 100 days of school on

Thursday.

I hope you all have a wonderful, well deserved holiday break. Take the

opportunity to recharge and relax and most importantly stay healthy and safe

and spend time with those you care about.

“Taking a break can lead to breakthroughs.” Russell Dobda

Primary News

Kindergarten have been busy learning about area this week. They searched the room to find bigger and smaller objects than the area of their maths books. Year 1 have been learning about chance events in maths and deciding what events are likely or unlikely to occur. Year 2 had lots of fun trying a new activity called ‘Marble Run’ where they tried to get the marble in the box. Year 3 finished their history unit ‘The British Colonisation’ this week. They worked in groups to develop posters on a range of topics that they learnt about throughout the unit. Year 4 focused on Chance and Probability. The students built their language associated with chance. such as possible, 50/50, likely and unlikely. They arranged situations along a continuum from ‘impossible to certain’ to indicate the likelihood of each event. Will it be school holidays next week??? Certain!! In their final lesson students used interactive spinners to continue building the link to using fractions as a way to describe the likelihood of outcomes. Finally Mrs Frater has been very proud of 5/6 and their narrative story writing. They have written very entertaining stories and have done a great job of publishing their stories. Have a lovely holiday break and stay safe. The teachers have some fantastic learning experiences planned for Term 3 and it will be great to get some of our extra curricular activities up and running. I look forward to checking in again in Term 3. Mrs Anderson
