MEET THE TEAM.The Passion of Patterson Veterinary

University’s Instructor Team.

DR. GARY L. ACKERMAN, Veterinarian: Practice ownership was a tremendous experience for me, and growing practices from small to large was excellent business training. Converting from educating veterinary clients to educating veterinarians has been a tremendous experience and truly enables me to do what I love while maintaining a presence in veterinary medicine. I love the

fact that I can continue to keep my hands in veterinary medicine via the numerous clients and practices I have helped, while at the same time expanding my fi nancial knowledge and helping practitioners in need of help.

ANDREAS P. PAHL, MPA, MBA, SPHR, CVPM: I like helping people to advance and achieve. I have a unique way of looking at things; I try to look past the obvious and fi nd the answers that help to optimize, or just work better. I believe that new technologies must be embraced as tools that allow managers and doctors to focus more of their time and efforts on the staff, clients and patients.

HEATHER PRENDERGAST, RVT, CVPM: Attendees learn not only from the information PVU provides, but from the questions and discussions generated by attendees. I want the attendees to know they can have positive infl uence on other team members, just by creating a cohesive, consistent environment. Creating a few simple goals will affect everyone on the team in a positive manner. I want

to improve the life of every person who attends PVU.

PAMELA D. STEVENSON, CVPM: Having attended many hundreds of hours of CE, I have a clear perspective on the value. PVU is far and away the best CE I have experienced. It’s more than a lecture or class – it’s an experience that does best with collaboration and sharing. Hearing from former employees, coworkers or mentees that my contribution changed their careers for the better has been

one of the highlights of my career.

DEBBIE BOONE, BS, CCS, CVPM: I hope to be able to show every team member how important they are to the health of the patients and the practice. To offer tools that make their daily lives better and more enjoyable. To show them that they create the culture of the practice and to give them ways to ensure it is a positive environment. To inspire them to go above and beyond to serve and

communicate with their clients, so patients get the very best care we have to offer. You may think this is funny, but when I introduce myself to industry experts whom I have been listening to and reading for many years and they say, “I know exactly who you are!” I am amazed that they would be aware of me and my work.

DEBBIE HILL, CVPM, PHR: I want to bring solid management education and the understanding that everyone experiences the same problems. The highlight of my career is my current involvement in so many facets of shaping veterinary managers. I love teaching in a formal setting as much as I enjoy speaking to local manager groups and sitting on professional boards.

Understanding that these really smart people need resources, ideas and direction that I can provide is incredibly fulfi lling to me. I meet the most amazing people!

SANDY WALSH, RVT, CVPM: The material encompasses real-world experiences that practices face on a daily basis. PVU brings it to them in a no-nonsense way so that they can bring it back to the practice and make a difference. I hope to bring my passion, experience and knowledge to the classes in order to help them understand how they can make their practices better. From HR

issues to managing and controlling expenses and generating revenue, I want them to leave with a sense of pride in what they do and to be excited about making a difference in the practice every day.
