A Place to Call Home BY: GRACE WADE
The CB East football team continued their strong sea-son by beating William Tennent High School with a final score of 28-3 for the Homecom-ing game. This brings their sea-son record to 4-2 as they gear up for their game with Norris-town High School on October 17. But what also makes this football season stand out from all the rest has been the addition of the First Lieutenant Colby Umbrell Field
at Patriot Stadium.
As Lamine Nouck-A-Nwal, one of the three senior captains of the team puts it, “Just the fact we have our own stadi-um makes it [the football season] all that more special. I think it really gives us an edge. When we step into the stadium we have to protect it because it’s our house. We
take a lot of pride in that.”
Jack Lamb, senior captain, also pointed out the fact that East has had a football team since 1969, but never a stadium to call their own. “We feel a need to live up to it, being the first team to have
a place to call home.”
When asked how the stadium has had an impact on the team’s performance, Coach Donnelly said, “Well I think it has had a great impact not only on the football team, but on all the athletic pro-grams. I think it has been such a great atmosphere for our first few home games in that we’ve seen a place for everyone to call home. It has
exceeded every expectation I had.”
The biggest game for the year will be when CB West comes to East’s territory on October 31. When asked how he feels for the upcoming game, Lamb responds, “There is a lot on the line, especially
since we weren’t able to prove ourselves last year.”
“I think it’s [East-West game] going to be a tremendous atmosphere that I’m excited to be a part of. It’s the first time they [West] are going to get on a bus and travel to play us,”
explains Coach Donnelly.
Alex Gibson, senior captain, explains his expectations for the game “Well right now we are taking it week by week, but obviously in the back of our heads we’re thinking about West. I’m expecting everyone to come out for the game in that week’s theme and to bring
a lot of energy with some great chants.”
Students cheer on the football team in Patriot Stadium during the Homecoming game.

Mini-Thon
Have you ever wondered how children who have cancer are able to cope during their treatment and the effects it has on their families? Mini-THONs have been making a difference in the lives of childhood cancer patients and their families for the last twenty years, and this year CB East is joining hundreds of other schools in this organization. On Friday September 25, Mini-THON members presented this idea to the CB East community in hopes of raising an objective goal of $20,000 by the night of March 4, 2016, which is the date of the event.
What is a Mini-THON? It is a multi-hour, interactive, fun-filled event that is completely student-led. The proceeds raised by this event go directly to Four Dia-monds. Four Diamonds and Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center have been chartered together for almost forty years with the mission to conquer childhood can-cer. Donations assist children treated at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital through superior care, comprehensive support, and innovative research.
If you are interested in getting involved, registration is currently available. You can create a team of up to 12 people or register individually. There is also a small registration fee of $10, and this fund will go toward buying your t-shirt and paying for the meal at the night of the event.

East Sports: Girls’ Soccer BY ANDREA JAKUBOWSKI
With an undefeated start, the girls’ soccer team has had a strong start to the
fall season. Watching the girls persevere through difficult games has been inspiring
and the captains (Emily Horn, Emma Loving, Maddie Myrtetus and Paige Weiss) are
more than ecstatic to see what the team brings into districts and states in the weeks
ahead.
"We have already made history being the first ever East girls’ soccer team to
go 10-0 and we're aiming to further continue that history," says Myrtetus. Being in the
state finals two years in a row has resulted in a bold target placed upon the team's
back and the pressure has absolutely increased with the progress made so far.
As they have been working diligently to make it as far as possible, the cap-
tains remind the team of their ultimate goal, "We want to win it all," says Loving. Horn
adds that this is "the year to go all of the way." With 14 graduating seniors and a
deep, talented team the postseason looks promising.
None of this is possible without full dedication and a common mindset. "This is
our time," Weiss adds. The captains, and team as a whole, have a desire to win and
make a lasting impression.

Fall Fashion Trends
BY NATALIE MUSICH AND MARISSA BERGMAN
As the chill of fall arrives, everyone can be seen grabbing their favorite thick
sweaters and jeans. Autumn is the perfect time to go on hayrides, go apple picking,
and be outside in general. The ultimate way to make the best of each day in autumn
is to have fall-friendly attire. Whether it’s combat boots and an over-sized sweater
or a light jacket and the best fitted jeans, it is the time of the year to stay warm and
cozy. The crisp mornings and warm, breezy evenings that fall has to offer allow for
the simplest of clothes to be made your own. A light cardigan, a unique scarf, or even
a long sleeve dress can all fit in with the latest styles this fall.

The Visit: Be Afraid BY CAROLINE NICODEMUS
M. Night Shyamalan’s The Visit turns a week with the grandparents into a nightmare. The film slowly builds the horror and suspense that climaxes to a final shocking
twist.
Kathryn Hahn plays the divorced mother of her two children, Becca (Olivia DeJonge) and Tyler (Ed Oxen-bould). Kathryn decides that her two children will go visit their grandparents so she can go on a vacation with her new boyfriend. What seems like a normal visit turns into a strange and confusing nightmare. No amount of skyping mom for help will get them out of this situation. If the chil-dren leave their room at past 9:30 PM, they will discover
their grandparents acting in bizarre and sinister ways.
One unforgettable scene early on is when Becca and Tyler are very curious as to why they are not al-lowed to leave their room past 9:30. Tyler decides to venture out of his room and as soon as he opens the door, immediately regrets this. Right outside the doorway is his grandmother (Deanna Dunagan) running around the house with her hair in her face and arms behind her back. However, it just continues to get creepier. When he believes she has run away, she comes crawling back sprinting towards the door to his room, when he slams the
door shut at just the last second, locking out his grandmother.
The Visit has a strong cast, especially the performance by Ed Oxenbould. He brings wit and humor to his role, but also is believable during the scariest moments. Also, the lack of sound track adds a creepy factor to the movie. Overall The Visit makes for a terrifying Hal-
loween experience.
