Have You Had Your Eye-Opening Moment?

God has given us a purpose as followers of Jesus. As we grow in Him and in His Word, the Lord opens our eyes to the dilemma of destiny for our families and friends, and to the urgency of helping them receive Jesus.

The six year old stood perilously in the window of his family’s home. The entire structure was engulfed in flames. Several men worked to rescue him and his life was spared.

That young boy was John Wesley. He believed his life was saved for a special purpose. That purpose became evident as Wesley led a revival movement across America. Today we are known as “Methodists” because of his evangelical zeal.

Many people who have faced death and are spared believe their life was spared for a special purpose. Often they dedicate their lives to fulfill that special purpose.

We can understand that reaction: “There must be a special reason why my life was spared.” That thought can give a person a life-changing focus that results in a defined sense of purpose.

This is what happened to Paul on the

Damascus Road. His eye-opening experience led him to believe that he was saved for a special purpose. He dedicated the rest of his life to opening the eyes of others to the power of God, and the forgiveness of sins.

I wonder if every Christian at Reeders

Church has that same passion? Has your life-changing, soul-saving, eternity-bound decision for Christ compelled you, driven you, to share the love of Jesus with your family members and friends who do not know Him?

If not, my question is, “when will your eyes be opened? When will you see the light? The Lord has spared you from death! That should have an impact on your purpose in life?

Like Paul, the Lord wants us to reach out with the love of Jesus to mem-bers of

our family, our neighbors and our friends. Imagine knowing that your encourage-ment saved someone for all eternity!

May this be your motto:

“Just one more for Jesus!”

In Acts 26:17b-18, Paul recalls what Jesus said to him on the Damascus Road:

'I am sending you to them to

open their eyes and turn them

from darkness to light, and from

the power of Satan to God, so

that they may receive forgiveness

of sins and a place among those

who are sanctified by faith in me.'

There is a dilemma of destiny facing our family and friends.

You may be the only person who can reach them

with the love of Jesus.

Have You had God’s eye-opening call to open their eyes to Jesus?
