FROM THE DESK OF FR. ARENS
My friends,
Hopefully, winter will soon be behind us. Lately, it seems to still be slowing us down a bit and making us stay home from time to time.
Perhaps this is on purpose. Who knows? But we know that with each passing day the sun shines more, and Spring is going to manifest
itself soon!
This weekend we are comforted by a familiar gospel reading with Jesus as our Good Shepherd. This image was very important in Jesus'
time, but is also in ours as well. Do we always realize we have a Good Shepherd looking out for us, feeding us and giving us what we
need? Sometimes the sheep in the flock forget, and only remember when they need something or are in danger.
The challenge for us is to remember this always. Prayer and devotion to God are not just for the times when we think we need God, but
rather, they are an important part of our daily relationship with our Good Shepherd. He is always looking out for us and giving us many
things, sometimes without us ever knowing. If we have established a relationship of love and devotion to our Good Shepherd, then our
lives will be a constant act of thanksgiving to Him, and we will know that he is there, both in good times and in bad.
May we always show our love for the Good Shepherd, who gave His life for us so that we may have life.
In Christ,
Fr. Arens
