A warm welcome to new parishioners! Welcome to those who want to make their faith-home here with us. You may be new to Aylmer, or you may have been away for a while. Be assured that we love to have you among us! We would appreciate it if you introduced yourself to one of our hospitality ministers, or to Father John. It would also help if you could take the time to fill out a registration form, which you can get from a hospitality minister. The next time you are with us, you can drop off the registration form in the collection basket; give it to one of the hospitality ministers or to Fr. John. Welcome!! Rite of Enrolment for First Communion candidates -January 22 at the 9:00 and 11:00 Masses First Communion candidates will celebrate a milestone in their preparation for First Communion at the 9:00 and 11:00 Masses on Sunday, January 22. The children will be called by name before our parish community and receive a cross for them to wear as a reminder that they are followers of Jesus and a part of our Christian family.
It is our hope that this celebration gives us all occasion to share their journey of faith. Parishioners are invited to keep these children and their families in their prayers over the coming months. Please help us make this a welcoming experience for these children and their families – a welcoming smile, an offer of help with finding the hymns we are singing, and a personal invitation to join us at coffee Sunday can go a long way in making sure that they know in a concrete way that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ! Knights of Columbus Family Supper Our Family Supper is on Jan.28th at 6pm. Our Menu will be the following: Home Style Baked Beans, Baked Macaroni with Meat, Hot Dogs, plus Dessert and Beverages, Cost $10 per person, Children under 10 free, Tickets are available from Kevin Barrett, Michel Lambert, Charles Gutta, Jim Cameron and Clinton McCrank. Also, the Christmas Poster Contest had only 2 entries, and the winner is Matthew Moraes. February Baptism Preparation - Register now The preparation for Baptism includes sessions on two consecutive Tuesday evenings, with baptism taking place during one of the Sunday Masses. The next sessions will be on January 31 and February 7, with the baptisms to be held beginning the weekend of February 11 and 12. Please share this with friends and family members. You can register on-line from our website, or by contacting the parish office. Knights of Columbus: 5th Sunday Rosary To help bring parishioners together in a spiritual activity and promote devotion to Mary, the Knights of Columbus Supreme council is pleased to announce a new church activity, the 5th Sunday Rosary Program. Knights, their families and other parishioners are encouraged to pray the rosary as a corporate body every time a 5th Sunday occurs in a month. The 5th Sunday Rosary services will be conducted on Jan 29, at 5 pm here at St. Mark’s. Let’s make the job of our money counters easier! Every week, a small but dedicated group of volunteers come together to prepare the deposit from the weekend’s collection. It is an invisible task, but one which is so important to the proper functioning of the parish. Thank you to those who contribute to the life of the parish in this way!
Here are a few ways that you could help us make their job easier: 1. Please do not use scotch tape or address labels to seal your envelope; 2. Please record the amount of your donation on your envelope; 3. Please use only one white envelope per week. If you miss one or
more weeks, please accumulate your donations and put them in the most recent white envelope.
Thanks for your help!
Envelopes for the collection Please remember to pick up your 2017 church envelopes in the Marrevee room. On-line option for the weekly collection In a time when many of us use our plastic to pay for everything from our daily coffee to our weekly groceries and gas, it's often hard to remember to bring cash to drop in the collection basket. Not intentionally, of course, it’s just that many of us are not used to carrying cash anymore. Would you like to never have to worry about having cash on hand to drop into the collection basket? We have the perfect solution that’s a win/win for you and the parish: This service is being offered by the Archdiocese of Gatineau, which is absorbing all processing fees and, therefore, 100% of your donation is forwarded to our Parish. The service allows you to make donations and Mass intentions; select a one-time donation or set up a monthly donation. Payment options include cheque, credit card or automated withdrawals from your bank account. See the on-line giving symbol on our parish web site (stmarkaylmer.ca) and follow the simple instructions, complete the required fields and submit your request. You will receive confirmation of your transaction and you will have peace of mind knowing that your gifts contribute to support and maintain the services offered by your parish. And since you no longer require the parish envelopes, please let the parish office know as this will reduce time, effort and cost for the printing and preparation of the envelopes.
