THE SOURCE OF JOY

God doesn’t ask us to rejoice over nothing; He gives us ground for our joy. What would you think of a man

who seemed very happy today and full of joy but couldn’t tell you what made him so? Suppose I should meet

a man on the street, and he was so full of joy that he should get a hold of both my hands, and suppose the fol-

lowing conversation occurred:

“Bless the Lord, I am so full of joy.”

“What makes you so full of joy?”

“Well, I don’t know.”

“You don’t know?”

“No, I don’t; but I am so joyful that I just want to get out of the flesh.”

“What makes you feel so joyful?”

“Well, I don’t know.”

Wouldn’t we think that this person is unreasonable? But there are many people who want to feel that they

are Christians before they are Christians; they want the Christian’s experience before they are Christians; they

want to have the joy of the Lord before they receive Jesus Christ. But this is not the gospel order. He brings joy

when He comes, and we cannot have joy apart from Him. He is the author of life, and we find our joy in Him.

GSCS News ________________________________________________________________________

We had a wonderful turnout at our PTF Open House this past month. The Lord has blessed us with a wonderful group of peo-ple to be in the booster club! We have many goals to accomplish this school year along with some fundraisers and activities to better our school. We started many of our extra-curricular activities this month: Robotics, SGA, Scholar’s Bowl, Chess Club, Na-tional Honor Society, and National History Day Club. We also did very well in Girl’s Volleyball, Boy’s Basketball (pre-games), and Archery tryouts. K4 enjoyed being “pirates” for a day, and we held our first school-wide community fundraiser for the Childhood Cancer Society. “See you at the Pole” (Sept. 27) has always been a blessed time to come together as a school to pray for our country. October is full of great activities as we wrap up the volleyball season, dive into basketball season, and prepare for our big FALL FESTIVAL on October 20! Make plans to join us for some of these events. As always, we covet your prayers! - Michelle McCormick

Child Development Center ___________________________________________________________

Happy Fall Y’all!!! I just love Fall. It is my favorite season. It renews my spirit. The autumn breeze is so refreshing. The children want to be outside more to enjoy this new season of cooler temperatures. This is a time we can teach our boys and girls that God is the Master of the seasons. They can feel the crisp breeze that He created, and sometimes in South Alabama they can see His art work in the changing colors of the leaves. With this change in season, October brings the Fall Festival for the school on October 20 that our K3 has been invited to partic-ipate in, and then on October 27 the CDC classes will have their Harvest Parties. It will be a time of fun, laughter, and hopefully pumpkin everything and caramel apples. Also, October 10-11 will be Fall pictures so we can capture the precious smiles of our little ones. Hang on though, this season will pass quickly as we are already working on our Christmas musical. But for now, just sit back and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and reflect on God’s wonderful blessings. - In Christ, Deborah Eddie
