The origin of language A religious point of view
• There are many theories and beliefs about the origin of language. One of those and perhaps a well known theory is The creation.
• The main source where we can find the events of our creation is the bible.
• In the Old Testament, more specifically in Genesis, there are some chapters where we find communication between God and Adam.
• Genesis 1:26-27 God created us in His own image
• Genesis 2:15-17 God give some instructions to Adam regarding the forbidden tree
• Genesis 2:19-20 Adam gives names to the animals
• Genesis 2:23) God created a companion to Adam,
• “ This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of man”
•
• Exodus 4:11-12) God says
• ‘Who had made man’s mouth? ... Have not I, the Lord? Now therefore, go, and I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say’
Conclusion
• From a religious point of view, the language was created by God and from the first man He created (Adam) all of us have the capability to speak
• Genesis 11:1-9 Tower of Babel.
