As part of the ZS3 ultrasound platform, ZONARE introduces the L20-5 transducer as a works-in-progress. Efficiently Review Large Image Sets

XPOSCROLL™ introduces a revolutionary autoscrolling system designed to increase review efficiency of larger image sets in PACS, common for CT and MR imaging exams. The system combines speed and pre-cision using unique exponential scroll rate dynamics. It’s ergonomically superior and significantly decreases scrolling movements. The current product is a USB dongle device which converts a standard computer mouse into one with autoscrolling capability. Pro-duction of a dedicated device for use with PACS is anticipated and other useful future applications could include a gaming control.

Low-dose CT Lung Cancer Screening

Medic Vision, provider of the SafeCT Itera-tive Image Reconstruction system for low-dose CT image enhancement, announces an

innovative cloud-based low-dose CT lung screening service. The service allows any radiology department or practice to per-form low-dose CT lung screening without going through the hassle and expense of purchasing and implementing iterative reconstruction technology. Eliminating the need for a dedicated VPN tunnel, the technology allows connection to the DCMSYS routers and VNA running in any private or public cloud network where VPN connectivity is not an option.

Wireless Flat-panel DetectorATLAIM introduces ATAL 8cw, a wireless flat-panel detector with complete 17" x 17" coverage for easy detector placement. Featuring a standard cassette format with the largest image cap-ture capability and

auto exposure sensing technology, it trans-forms a CR or analog system without changing it. Installation is quick and nonin-vasive and the detector is independent tech-nically. Accelerate Comparisons of Medical Images

Blackford Analysis’ Blackford Matched-Crosshairs™ is part of a suite of tools that accelerate comparisons of medical images. Navigating between multiple cross-section-al examinations can be a challenge and usually involves several mouse clicks and manually scrolling through hundreds or thousands of slices to find the same loca-tion to compare. Any medical image view-er such as a PACS or universal viewer can be enhanced with Blackford Matched-Crosshairs, to allow radiologists to simply click once on a location in any scan to instantly find the same location on multiple scans from different times and/or modali-ties, all with a single click.

Radiography and Fluoros-copy Digital X-ray To improve diagnostic confidence, Toshi-ba debuts enhancements to the Kalare™ radiography and fluoroscopy digital X-ray system. The system now features a 17" x 17" dynamic flat-panel detector (works-in-progress) to provide clinicians with distortion-free, high-quality images. Replacing the current image intensifier with a flat-panel detector extends cover-

age for imaging larger patients and helps reduce panning time for exams requiring fluoroscopy, such as a barium swallow.

Digital Breast Tomosynthesis Carestream introduces works-in-prog-ress enhance-ments to its digi-tal breast tomo-synthesis module for the CAR-

ESTREAM Vue Mammo Workstation. The new digital breast tomosynthesis module is intended to include the display of DICOM-compliant 2D synthetic views, which are calculated from the 3D dataset. The use of synthetic views is being con-sidered as an alternate approach to reduc-ing dosage while allowing full advantage of the benefits of digital breast tomosyn-thesis. Other works-in-progress additions to Carestream’s digital breast tomosyn-thesis module are intended to include a digital breast tomosynthesis image map and improved workflow settings.

Fluoroscopy, Radiography, Tomography and Angiogra-phy Unit

Del Medical’s Apollo EZ by Villa is a ful-ly featured radiofrequency system with fluoroscopy, radiography, tomography, and angiography capability all in one unit. The EZ can be configured with a digital flat-panel or a 9", 12" or 16" image inten-sifier. High-end Mobile Surgical C-arm

GEMSS’s SPINEL-12HD is a high-end mobile surgical C-arm equipped with a dynamic flat-panel. Its wide flat-panel and image control techniques provide high-qual-ity imaging in more abundant and multilevel gradients while significantly lowering total radiation dose for patients and operators. The portable system is compact to fit into small exam rooms and can be easily trans-ported to increase a facility’s space-utiliza-tion level. The Rotating OP panel is designed for users to effortlessly operate the system without moving. The maximum orbital movement range of the SPINEL-12HD is 165 degrees, 30 degrees more than competitors’ C-arm system. FDA works-in-progress, expected early 2014.

Web-based, Cacheless Uni-versal Viewer

The Perceptive Enterprise Viewer, pow-ered by Acuo Technologies, is web-based universal viewing technology. It’s a cach-eless, zero-footprint, non-diagnostic, enterprise-class viewer designed to take advantage of modern web technologies and integrate with Acuo’s industry-lead-ing VNA software. It supports DICOM and XDS-compliant non-DICOM content within a patient context. The viewer is for organizations with a broad population of clinicians: those who need to view all clinical images from multiple devices including mobile; those with multiple EMR or HIE applications with image requirements and need to search/view out-side the EMR/HIE; and those with plans to implement a clinical document reposi-tory including XDS support.
