  • From the SuperintendentWelcome to the Back to School 2019 edition of the Clintondale Communicator!

I hope you’ve had a memorable summer filled with rest, relaxation and special occasions with friends and family.

In this edition of the Communicator, we recognize our 2019 Honor Corps and Teachers of the Year who exemplify what Dragon Pride is all about. We also highlight Dragons of all ages who have given back to their community through service projects and celebrate our fine arts and athletic programs.

I’m particularly excited to introduce our new roster of Career and Technical Education programs at the high school that will continue preparing our students for the modern workforce. These courses, along with our broad range of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), fine arts, dual enrollment and other learning opportunities help all Dragons achieve and succeed.

We are One Clintondale. You’ll be hearing that phrase a lot in the coming months, as we continue our efforts to improve communication among our school buildings, students, staff, families and our community at large.

With that in mind, I want to hear your success stories to fill the pages of the Communicator — your school newsletter. We’ve created a forum to do just that. To share your story, visit http://bit.ly/CCSstoryideas and fill out our online form. You may have also noticed we’ve updated our newsletter design. We encourage your feedback and welcome new ideas to make your newsletter even better.

As always, it is an honor serving as your superintendent.

    Go Dragons!

Rainbow student spreads diversity messageWhat started as a classroom art project soon became an opportunity to celebrate diversity among all Clintondale students, teachers and staff, thanks to Rainbow Elementary fourth-grader De’Ja Winters. De’Ja’s class was initially tasked with designing Valentine’s Day card boxes. Her design, with the message “Spread the Love” over several hearts, soon went viral on social media.

Some suggested the design be turned into a T-shirt. Soon enough, it was. De’Ja’s “Spread the Love” T-shirt soon went on sale, with all proceeds benefiting the American Autoimmune Association.
