(20 minutes), Winchester and Guildford (both within half an hour) have an

extensive range of shops, boutiques and restaurants.

Selborne

The Old Vicarage lies discretely next to the church in Selborne in the heart of the East

Hampshire Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Selborne has a post office, shop, tea

shop, pottery, two pubs and the famous Gilbert White museum. There is endless scope

for walking and riding on miles of footpaths and bridleways to which there is direct access

from the grounds of the house. There are woodlands, arable and livestock farming, a

vineyard and the National Trust Hangers, all within the South Downs National Park.

Schools: The area is renowned for its excellent prep schools, especially Highfield

and Churcher’s Junior in Liphook. Public Schools include Bedales and Churcher’s

Senior in Petersfield with Winchester College, St. Swithuns and Wellington

College within half an hour.

Racing: Goodwood and Fontwell Park are nearby. Newbury, Sandown, Epsom

Downs and Ascot are all within an hour.

Travel: Southampton Airport is 39 miles and Heathrow Airport is 44 miles. A

direct train service runs from Alton (4 miles) to London Waterloo in 68 minutes.

The service from Liss (3.5 miles) to Waterloo takes 72 minutes.

magnificent mulberry tree. To the west and screened by a yew hedge is the

heated swimming pool. Towards the eastern boundary is a tennis court which

is adjacent to an area of woodland with a number of mature trees and enjoys

views to the church.
