A convergence of inspiration, engineering, functionality, aesthetics, and power result inARCHITECTURE, the focus of this issue of Showcase. We present city views punctuatedby spires and domes, as well as prints of architectural details and ornamentations in ourselection of historic material. Instinctive and intrinsic constructions found in the naturalworld, while purely functional to the builders, can also be appreciated for their aestheticform. Therefore, we included prints of the work of mollusks and birds. In the category of20th century American printmakers, we highlight the work of Joseph Pennell and John TaylorArms. New to our gallery is the Cuban artist, Emilio Sanchez (1921-1999), noted for hisstreamlined geometric views of buildings, rendered by the stark interplay of light and shadow. Our summer group show, running June 20 through September 13, focuses on architectureand will feature work by Sanchez.
