New Directors If you missed the annual picnic – you missed out! A good time was had by all, with many lucky members going home with door prize guns, re-loaders, ammo, etc. The lucky winners of the Rock River 308s were Brad Sullivan and Marc McCormick. They were Voting Members who voted in the Board of Director elections and were eligible to win just by casting their vote. We are hoping to increase voting participation next year and I strongly encourage every Voting Member to cast their votes in next year’s election, as it takes minutes and can be done via the internet or U. S. Mail. The following are the newly elected Directors for 2017, who will carry out a three (3) year term:
Jim Fields Kent Shomber Jack Legg J.R. Hile Si Fentress Brent Tate
We are already in full gear for the shooting season at the OKCGC and I encourage each and every member to get out to the gun club and throw some lead down range! There is something for every-one and don’t be hesitant to try something new. Everyone is always willing to assist new shooters when beginning a new shooting discipline. Just ask!
Hope everyone has a great and safe Summer!

“The 1911 pistol remains the service pistol of choice in the eyes of those
who understand the problem. Back when we audited the FBI academy in
1947, I was told that I ought not to use my pistol in their training pro-
gram because it was not fair. Maybe the first thing one should demand of
his sidearm is that it be unfair.”

2017 IHMSA World Championship Pistol Match Coming to OKC Gun Club
July 14th thru the 22nd
OKC Gun Club is hosting the 2017 IHMSA (International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Associa-tion ) World Championship pistol match July 14th thru the 22nd of July, Jim Fields (405-203-1268) is the match director overseeing this huge match & he needs a minimum of five (5) volunteers for each of the nine days to serve as line officers; these volunteers need to be at the silhouette range no later than 7:30 am. each day & will work to around 4 pm in the afternoon. The first relay goes to the line at 8 am sharp. This is an excellent way to fulfill your 2017 work-day responsibility as well as help to make this match run as smoothly as possible. You will find it quite interesting visiting with shooters from around the world. Excellent food & drinks will be catered in & available from 8:30 am until 4 pm all eight days of the match. CALL JIM AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE so he can sign you up on the day you are available to work; his number is (405-203-1268) The main duty as a line officer is to make sure chamber flags are in place & the guns are not han-dled while the target setters are down range while painting the targets, it is a safety rule & we need a minimum of three (3) line officers each day, one on the east end of the firing line, one in the middle & one on the west end. Each line officer will wear a green vest, which will be provided. So the extra two can relieve the others for a water or food break ever so often. We've hosted this match in 2012, 2014 & 2016 with an average turnout of 550 entries from five different countries, those countries included Brazil, Paraguay, Australia, Canada & of course the United States of America. We've had the largest turn-out in several years for this event. It is held annually in different regions of the United States. We expect a large turn-out for this one as well. Our club has the advantage of being centrally located in the US which makes it a shorter drive for most folks & we have over 20 RV hook-ups for those travelling in a motor-home or pulling a camping trailer. OKC Gun Club is one of only a few clubs in the world that has a pneumatic target auto-reset sys-tem. One push of a wireless remote transmitter raises over 6,000 pounds of targets out to 500 me-ters all at once. This is one of the reasons that we are able to host huge events such as a world championship. Be a part of this & give us a hand as well as experiencing a world-class event & world-class shoot-ers & give them an Oklahoma welcome.

Action Pistol Division
75 shooters turned out for the May USPSA match, with 8 stages and about 170+ rounds required. The weather FINALLY cooperated and we had a great day for the match. April matches were mostly cancelled due to weather, so it was nice to get back to normal. We also had a number of first time USPSA shooters, which is always great. We are starting to use the Practiscore website for pre-registration for our matches. It is not required, but is encouraged. There is no charge when you pre-register -- you pay at check-in on match day. We have decid-ed not to offer online self-squadding for the USPSA matches at this point. While there are some advantages, there is a significant down-side as well for our matches. Links to pre-registration will be included in match an-nouncements so if you are not receiving them, go to the Action Pistol Division on our website and select “Sign Me Up”. The scores are as follows:
IMPORTANT REMINDERS: Tracer rounds or any type of incendiary ammunition is strictly prohibited. Shooting from outside the bay is prohibited even if the intended impact is safely within the confines of a bay. ALL shooting activity must occur within the confines of a bay. PLEASE pick-up after yourselves and don’t leave trash or targets. There are trash cans on most bays as well as a large dumpster. The Muzzleloader/Black Powder Range is closed for construction until further notice. It’ll be a huge improve-ment for us when it’s back in operation, with 2 bays, each with 100yd depth. Our next monthly USPSA/IPSC match will be June 3rd. Come on out and play. ALWAYS CHECK THE WEB-SITE FOR LAST MINUTE UPDATES & SCORES.

Muzzleloader Match
Need a Workday? Want updates on Club News?? Urgent calls for club help??? We need YOUR help!
We’ve recently implemented a more effective email distribution service to get club information out to our membership; while the feedback we’ve received is very positive, it is evident that we are still missing many of our members.
Make sure your current/preferred email address is in our database so that we
can do our best to disseminate club information effectively. Currently, about 30% of our membership have no email address on file. Of those that do have one, it appears that a significant percentage of addresses are not being checked – perhaps the email ad-dress on file is no longer being used. If you are not receiving email from the okcgunclub.org address, it is possible that your email appli-cation is routing it to a SPAM or Junk folder. If that is the case, you can mark mail from that ad-dress so that it will be properly delivered as valid email, going forward.
Please submit any contact information updates – including email addresses – to

Shotgun May 2017 5-Stand Match
The 5-Stand is officially up and running at the Oklahoma City Gun Club. The shoot on May 21 was the second shoot of the year with the inaugural match on March 19
th. Congratulations go out to Mi-
chael Nguyen who so far is the 5-Stand Top Gun winning both matches. 5-Stand is a shotgun clay target discipline that has it’s roots in Sporting Clays. The targets are al-ways different and no two 5-Stands are the same. It’s a challenging game and tests the most ac-complished clay shooters. There is unlikely to be a 49 or 50 to win, so if you’re a trap or skeet shooter looking for another game to have a chance… 5-Stand might be your calling. Our next match will be July 16
th at 1:00 PM. 50
targets for $15. Come out and join us… win, lose or draw… the targets are fun.

Wanted: 600-yard Prone Program Director To all club members that enjoy participating in the 600-yard Prone program: Darrell Blanchard, the Director for the Prone Program has stepped down to pursue other interests after several years of running the program. This leaves the Highpower program with a vacancy that serves OKCGC club members as well as a significant number of competitors around the state. I am looking for an individual or individuals that can run a safe and efficient range, is familiar with current Highpower Rifle rules, likes to work with people, and has a vision for where you’d like the prone program to go. You will be provid-ed with help to get started, but will be expected to run the Prone Program with a great deal of autonomy. If you are interested in taking an active part in running the Prone Program, please contact Dan Arnold at: (405) 206-9935 or [email protected]. Note: Due to the demands of the Across the Course Program, if no club members are willing to step up, the Prone Pro-gram will be severely constrained for the immediate future.
Precision Pistol at OKC Gun Club Precision pistol, formerly known as conventional pistol, is a shooting sport in which participants shoot handguns at paper targets at fixed distances and time limits. Many organizations, including the NRA and Civilian Marksmanship Program has established rules and keep records for this sport. Emphasis is on accuracy and precision. The sport formerly called Bullseye pistol uses 25 and 50 yard targets shot one handed. This shooting discipline takes considerable training to be-come proficient. Here at our gun club we have a shooting range with 40 covered positions and turning targets at the 25-yard line. Pistols used range from a 22-caliber target pistol to a 45 acp 1911 pistol. Annually we host the CMP games in which competitors from all over the country come to compete at our wonderful facility. New shooters as well as seasoned pistol shooters can attend monthly pistol training starting the first Saturday of the month and, we have monthly approved and region-al matches. We welcome all members of the club and non-members to attend our matches. Please see the monthly activity calendar for match dates and activities. For more information please contact Mark Thomas gun club pistol division chair for more infor-mation at [email protected] or 405-615-1434.
