Overview of SpecializationYou will tackle real-world problems and theoretical issues familiar to political scientists, sociologists, economists, urban planners, and anthropologists – but from a geographic perspective.

You will analyze social issues as explicitly spatial issues - where political, social, cultural, and economic activities take place; why these activities take place where they do; how location influences these activities and how activities are interconnected across space.

You will master a comprehensive assortment of qualitative and quantitative skills such as research design and implementation, policy and archival research, statistical analysis, and mapping/geovisualization.

You will have the opportunity to pursue internships for classroom credit and undertake independent research.
