Hello, Summer! Welcome to the newest edition of the Sterling Hills newsletter! The last day of school for the R-7 school district is May 19, which means there will likely be more kids out and about in the neighborhood enjoying their summer break. Please remember to slow down and stay alert while driving our streets. Neighborhood Garage Sale - June 2-4 Join your neighbors for our annual garage sale the first weekend in June (Friday, Saturday and Sunday). Participate on any or all days as works for your schedule. Feel free to post about what you’re selling on NextDoor! Yard Waste Pick-Up Yard waste pick-up is now active (began April 1), and you can put up to 10 bags on your curb each week. Please remember that yard waste must be in lawn bags. We will have yard waste pick-up through Oct. 31. Annual Homeowners Meeting - July 19 Save the Date for our Annual Homeowners Association Meeting - 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 19th! We’re looking forward to interacting with our neighbors at our annual meeting, to be held at the Fred Arbanas Golf Course Clubhouse (11100 View High Drive) at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 19th. Solicitor Guidelines During summer months, it’s not unusual to see an increase in solicitors or people claiming to be solicitors. Please note the following guidelines from the LSPD (hat tip to Keith Conway for posting this info on NextDoor!): LSPD requires all solicitors to apply for a permit, after which a solicitor is given an ID card which must be prominently displayed outside his or her clothing. Solicitors are only allowed during the following hours: – Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. – Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can obtain a No Solicitors sticker from the Records Unit at Police Headquarters during normal business hours. Report violations by calling 911 or the non-emergency dispatch center at 816-969-7390. Summer Reminders

The Sterling Hills HOA Newsletter, May 2017Page 2

As a subdivision, we’re all part of a cooperative group of people invested in maintaining our homes, preserving property values, and working together to make our neighborhood a great place to live. As we enter the summer months, please keep in mind a few highlights from our HOA Covenants:

• Please remember that no vehicles, campers, trailers, tractors or other vehicles may be parked at the curb for more than 24 hours at a time. Additionally, no vehicles, boats, trucks, cars, etc., not in working order, or which could be considered hazardous or unsightly, can be kept on any lot or at the curb for more than 24 hours. If you have any questions or need to request a temporary exception, please contact one of the board members.• We’re in prime grass (and weed) growing season, so please make sure to keep your lawns properly maintained.• Please also keep an eye on the condition of your house, and assess regularly whether painting or other repairs are needed.

If you have any questions about home maintenance requirements or rules outlined in the HOA covenants, please contact a member of the HOA board.

Dues Reminder HOA dues were due on Jan. 31, and while the majority of homeowners have paid, there are

still a number of properties showing past due. As such, we will unfortunately have to start stopping trash service if dues continue to go unpaid without arrangements being made. If you have any questions regarding the dues, please reach out to our accountant, Mark

Albrecht, at 816-525-8300 or by email at [email protected].
