    Introduction

    Todays open networking technologies provide significant flexibility. With flexibility comes the responsibility to understand and deploy solutions that are based on sound engineering and design principles. This guide is intended to help OEMs understand key technologies, networking capabilities and other considerations that could impact them as they develop industrial Ethernet solutions for the machines or equipment they build. This not only includes the networks dedicated to the machines or equipment but also the networking
