Step 2 – Choose a Team Leader- (10 minutes) - This is a servant leadership role. This person will be responsible for:

• Facilitating communication between meetings to various members and chapter leadership, as needed.

• Ensuring that assignments which are needed for the next meeting are completed, so that the next meeting can proceed without wasting other team member’s time and/or causing the process to become bogged down..

• Ensuring that the meeting place is prepared to optimize team member interchange and consensus.

• Adjusting meeting schedules to ensure each meeting accomplishes its agenda, as needed.

• Utilizing a time-keeper to keep the process moving and to remind team members how much time is left before moving on to the next step.

Step 2A – All who desire to lead this result team must speak up now by indicating a desire to do the work of the leader and to serve the team.

If you have only one volunteer, then proceed to step 3.

If no one desires to lead the team, then please see the chapter

coordinator to locate an individual who is willing to accept the task.

Step 2B – If you have more then one nomination, then have another team member take some 3 X 5 cards and write 1, 2, 3, etc on separate cards and have each potential team leader draw a card from a hat. Step 4 – Be Prepared to Have a Successful Meeting - (5 minutes) – The leader must ensure and/or coordinate a meeting space whereby (if resources allow):

• Teams can meet at a round table with adequate space for each team member in an environment that is reasonably comfortable and free from distractions.

• Teams have available for each meeting a flip chart stand with paper, ink markers,

masking tape, pens, blank sheets of paper and some 3 X 5 cards. The team leader should gather these items and ensure they are set-up and accessible prior to team members arriving for the meeting – these items help individuals facilitate conversations and group tasks. (Optional but not necessary: Your team might find it helpful to have a laptop computer available that has internet access.)

• Each team member must have a copy of this workbook as it will facilitate the

process and will help all members focus on keeping the process moving forward rapidly and with excellence.

Step 5 – Set Ground Rules - (10 minutes) – Groups of people often work best together in teams if they establish some ground rules for how they will interact. These ground rules represent the interpersonal boundaries and values that help people know how to communicate with each other in a way that is useful and effective. Step 5A – The leader goes around the table asking each member what one item they believe will help the group work well together. Step 5B – Group members should give their answers in short 2-5 word statements. Step 5C – The leader must record the ground rules on a flip chart page and then tape the flip chart page(s) to the wall so all team members can see and record the ground rules.

The US Constitution is foundational to freedom. The US Constitution is designed to balance power. We look to the Constitution as a document that draws the line for which man can make laws for the times and provides us with a foundation of principles that transcend the evolution of society. The US Constitution protects basic liberties and protects the people against the tyranny of governmental control.

The US Constitution needs to be flexible to work in a modern world. Power is less relevant today because of technology. The word “democracy” does not appear once in the Constitution. In a global world the US Constitution is an ancient document that stands in the way of globalization and prosperity for the rest of the world.

Step 37 – Choose a Project Manager - (10 minutes) – This is a servant leadership-administrative role. Ideally, this will be someone other then the team leader who facilitated the concept phase of this process. This person will be responsible for:

• Facilitating communication between volunteers to ensure coordination of your team’s action steps.

• Tracking the implementation process to ensure that no bottlenecks are occurring. • Over-seeing the quality of the volunteer work. • Maintaining a level of enthusiasm and encouragement while assisting other

volunteer workers, as needed. • Keeping the project on a reasonable timetable – with a goal of having the project

implemented with impact within six weeks. • Tracking areas that are not working well and utilizing field data to adjust the

process and approach for potential use by other Oak Initiative chapters. • Keeping a lessons learned addendum for inclusion with the team’s final report

after implementation to help other Oak Initiative chapters. Step 37A – All who desire to be the project manager for the implementation of your team’s solutions must speak up now by indicating a desire to do the work of the project manager and to serve the implementation team.

If you have only one volunteer, then proceed to step 3.

If no one desires to coordinate the implementation, then please see

the chapter coordinator to locate an individual who is willing to accept the task.

Step 37B – If you have more then one nomination, then have another team member take some 3 X 5 cards and write 1, 2, 3, etc on separate cards and have each potential project manager draw a card from a hat. Whoever chooses the card marked #1 will be the project manager. You may pray that the Lord guide the process to the best outcome for achieving the desired result. Some ideas for this transition include:

• This is the time to get very excited and energetic – you are about to find out what works and what needs to be refined.

• This is the time to shine bright – you are about to impact your community with

the salt and light you are called to be.

• This is the time to focus – you have worked for eight weeks to be prepared to make a difference – your focus and dedication for the next six weeks will help to ensure that your team’s efforts are fruitful.

• This is the time to have great faith – you may experience some of the greatest

miracles and displays of God’s love imaginable – we all know, many great miracles take place in the marketplace – and that is where your implementation will take place.

• This is the time to have lots of fun – some of the most meaningful relationships

and connections you will ever make in your life can come from working alongside others while helping, serving or otherwise benefitting your community with a Christian worldview.

• This is the time to stay engaged – a key to success will be regular communication

with your team coordinator – additional team meetings are not recommended at this point, as it is important to transition from talking to doing at this juncture.

• This is the time to multiply – During this phase; you will likely be meeting many

people and working with others from outside your group. This is a great opportunity to invite these people to join your chapter and to become a member of the Oak Initiative. In this way you will be engaging others, while implementing solutions – so when your chapter starts another project next quarter – you will have more members solving more problems.

You are now prepared, so be released and expect great things to happen.
