Oak Welcome – The Oak Initiative seeks to release salt and light, which are foundational elements of the Christian life, into the fabric of our society. Oak Introduction – The high intensity results workbook is designed to be utilized in a collaborative team environment. The workbook is designed to move rapidly through intense steps with a constant eye on the desired result. To be successful, this approach requires team members to understand the need for remarkable results with overwhelming speed and force. High intensity team members must:

• Have unflinching loyalty to each other and the desired result. • Move together with confidence and unity. • Drive critically considered innovations and creativity. • Serve other members of the team. • Act honorably and ethically while achieving the desired results. • Continually foster trust and commitment between team members.

The structure of this workbook is designed to:

• Quickly bring together a group of 8-10 people and focus them on achieving a rapid, remarkable and significant result.

• Blend a variety of Godly-gifts to create real-world solutions utilizing data, analysis and problem solving.

• Create simple, accurate and concise presentations that can be communicated widely and implemented with flexibility and economy of force.

As you place your workbook open, you will notice a sample / example page on the left and your team’s exercise to be completed on the right. The samples / examples are provided to help your team conceptualize the exercises and should not in any way be construed as a useable, endorsed or scholarly position. Step 2 – Choose a Team Leader- (10 minutes) - This is a servant leadership role. This person will be responsible for:

• Facilitating communication between meetings to various members and chapter leadership, as needed.

• Ensuring that assignments which are needed for the next meeting are completed, so that the next meeting can proceed without wasting other team member’s time and/or causing the process to become bogged down..

• Ensuring that the meeting place is prepared to optimize team member interchange and consensus.

• Adjusting meeting schedules to ensure each meeting accomplishes its agenda, as needed.

Step 5 – Set Ground Rules - (10 minutes) – Groups of people often work best together in teams if they establish some ground rules for how they will interact. These ground rules represent the interpersonal boundaries and values that help people know how to communicate with each other in a way that is useful and effective. Step 5A – The leader goes around the table asking each member what one item they believe will help the group work well together. Step 5B – Group members should give their answers in short 2-5 word statements. Step 5C – The leader must record the ground rules on a flip chart page and then tape the flip chart page(s) to the wall so all team members can see and record the ground rules.

Step 6 – Determine Your Team’s Result - (1 hour, 20 minutes) – The outcome of this step is the core that drives this entire team effort. For this step, your team will need to reach consensus on several important factors. To understand results remember that they are SMART and that they bear spiritual FRUIT. Natural results are:

– Specific – Measurable – Attainable – Realistic – Timely

– Example - We will educate 1000 people on the basics of the US

Constitution in York County by Dec 2010.

Spiritual results are:

– Freeing – Righteous – Unifying – Inspiring – Triumphant

– Example – We will enlighten our neighbors by ensuring that they are

lovingly inspired by the Godly wisdom that guided America’s founding fathers.

As you can see, by being SMART we are able to stay focused and concise on what our team must do to accomplish and measure tangible tasks. By being FRUIT-ful, we are able to stay focused on being bringers of salt and light.

We look to the Constitution as a document that draws the line for which man can make laws for the times and provides us with a foundation of principles that transcend the evolution of society. The US Constitution needs to be flexible to work in a modern world. Power is less relevant today because of technology. The word “democracy” does not appear once in the Constitution. In a global world the US Constitution is an ancient document that stands in the way of globalization and prosperity for the rest of the world.

The decline in defense spending, which in 2001 had dropped to 3.7% of the economy's national income, below where it started - following a 5-decade downward slope. This multi-decade declining defense ratio camouflaged a new direction for government - - surging social programs and spending. This trend calls into question our nation's focus and readiness to detect and deter major national security challenges - - compared to the priority focus outlined by our nation's founding fathers.

2. Choose a presenter(s) – If more then one person would like an opportunity to present, then share the role or else take turns presenting in different venues.

3. Utilizing the prepared presentation from Step 34, your team’s presenter(s) should

practice making the presentation while other members of the team take notes without interrupting. Utilize the form below to organize your coaching thoughts.

4. Go around the table and ask each person to identify one thing they really liked

and one thing they believe would enhance the presentation. (Tip – Be gentle, kind and encouraging in your coaching tips and remember, your idea of what should be adjusted in the presentation may not be helpful, so coach with a sense of humility – being okay if your ideas are not embraced – Remember, the end goal is to improve the presentation for maximum impact).

BEGIN MEETING EIGHT

Step 37 – Choose a Project Manager - (10 minutes) – This is a servant leadership-administrative role. Ideally, this will be someone other then the team leader who facilitated the concept phase of this process. This person will be responsible for:

• Facilitating communication between volunteers to ensure coordination of your team’s action steps.

• Tracking the implementation process to ensure that no bottlenecks are occurring. • Over-seeing the quality of the volunteer work. • Maintaining a level of enthusiasm and encouragement while assisting other

volunteer workers, as needed. • Keeping the project on a reasonable timetable – with a goal of having the project

implemented with impact within six weeks. • Tracking areas that are not working well and utilizing field data to adjust the

process and approach for potential use by other Oak Initiative chapters. • Keeping a lessons learned addendum for inclusion with the team’s final report

after implementation to help other Oak Initiative chapters. Step 37A – All who desire to be the project manager for the implementation of your team’s solutions must speak up now by indicating a desire to do the work of the project manager and to serve the implementation team.


If no one desires to coordinate the implementation, then please see

the chapter coordinator to locate an individual who is willing to accept the task.

Step 37B – If you have more then one nomination, then have another team member take some 3 X 5 cards and write 1, 2, 3, etc on separate cards and have each potential project manager draw a card from a hat. Whoever chooses the card marked #1 will be the project manager. You may pray that the Lord guide the process to the best outcome for achieving the desired result. Some ideas for this transition include:

• This is the time to get very excited and energetic – you are about to find out what works and what needs to be refined.

• This is the time to shine bright – you are about to impact your community with

the salt and light you are called to be.

• This is the time to focus – you have worked for eight weeks to be prepared to make a difference – your focus and dedication for the next six weeks will help to ensure that your team’s efforts are fruitful.

• This is the time to have great faith – you may experience some of the greatest

miracles and displays of God’s love imaginable – we all know, many great miracles take place in the marketplace – and that is where your implementation will take place.

• This is the time to have lots of fun – some of the most meaningful relationships

and connections you will ever make in your life can come from working alongside others while helping, serving or otherwise benefitting your community with a Christian worldview.

• This is the time to stay engaged – a key to success will be regular communication

with your team coordinator – additional team meetings are not recommended at this point, as it is important to transition from talking to doing at this juncture.

• This is the time to multiply – During this phase; you will likely be meeting many

people and working with others from outside your group. This is a great opportunity to invite these people to join your chapter and to become a member of the Oak Initiative. In this way you will be engaging others, while implementing solutions – so when your chapter starts another project next quarter – you will have more members solving more problems.

You are now prepared, so be released and expect great things to happen.
