Fore Once More Trinity Oaks Golf Tournament 2015
T rinity Oaks is the defending
champion three years in a row
for the 2015 Scrabble Scramble to be
held April 21 at Trinity Oaks. The an-
nual tournament is a fund raiser for
the Rowan County Literacy Council.
The 2015 team is busy practicing for
the big event and you can help them
to a fourth championship. Since the
scramble is a fund raiser, extra letters
are $1 for each point value. An E is
only a dollar, but a blockbuster Q or
Z costs the team $10. The team will
be DIZZY with appreciation for any
donation.
M ark your calendars for the ninth annual Trinity Oaks Golf
Tournament on Friday, May 15 at 1 p.m. It is shaping up to
be the most fun you can have on a golf course. Here is a short list of
what’s in store for teams and players:
Not one but four hole-in-one opportunities. A new Harley-
Davidson motorcycle will be parked on hole 10 at the Crescent Golf
Club. Sink it in one shot and it’s yours. Miss it and you might take
home Callaway irons, a SiriusXM satellite radio system or airline tick-
ets on other hole-in-one opportunities.
Craft beer tastings on all odd numbered holes. Beer tickets
may be purchased before you tee off.
Putting Contest after the tournament on #18. Win this contest
and pocket $2,500 in cash!
Food and Fun: Light lunch before tee off and dinner, awards, mu-
sic and more fun afterwards.
Cart, hole and team sponsorships still available. Call 704-603-9204 for
more information. Individual golfers play for $75.

Vino 101: Wine Making at Trinity Oaks
E arlier this year, 20 students en-
rolled in a basic winemaking
class offered by Rowan-Cabarrus Com-
munity College and held at Trinity Oaks.
The class was such a success, that in-
structor Jason Pfeffer is repeating it, but
this time the group will be making a
sweeter white wine.
The new five-week class begins April 20
and will again be in the Hobby/Craft
Room at Trinity Oaks. Classes are all
hands-on with students involved in each
step of the process. The all inclusive fee
is $50.
In addition to Deana and Eric Burris,
Move-in Coordinator Linda Agner and
two other Trinity Oaks employees en-
rolled in the red wine class.
Thanks, Volunteers
From the Lifestyle video:
Resident Billie Bryant: “Not having
to go to the grocery store and not
having to cook, I really love that.”
Resident Anita Gandy: “Don’t wait
for something to happen. Come ear-
lier than that.”
Resident Georgina Ryon: “We have
pride in our community and we are
enjoying our recent community up-
grades.”

Director of Life Enrichment Deana Burris and husband Eric were students in the first Trinity Oaks wine class. Here is Deana’s evaluation:
E ric and I started wine
making as a result of this class. It is a hobby we can work on together as a couple. We love it! After the second week, we bought a floor corker. We are planning to produce 60 bottles of red in about six months.
N ational Volunteer Week is
April 12 – 18. Trinity Oaks
invites all of our volunteers to attend
an afternoon reception in your honor
on Wednesday, April 15 at 3 p.m. in
the Special Events Room.
“We are grateful for the 50 people
from Trinity Oaks and the Salisbury
community who prove that by working
together, we can make a difference,”
said Executive Director, Retirement
Services Mike Walsh.

Concord native Claudia Daves will be a moving soon to Trinity Oaks. She
retired from Cannon Mills where she was a clerical worker. Claudia’s two major
hobbies are cooking and reading. She is a member of St. John’s United Church of
Christ in Kannapolis. Her daughters both live in North Carolina. Patti Tyndall is in
Wilmington and Dari Caldwell lives in Concord.
During their working lives, Fred and Joyce Dixon, were associated with their
family business, White Packing Company, a Salisbury meat packing business. Fred likes to
sail and is a student of history. Joyce is a retired piano teacher and naturally likes music.
Like her husband, the beach and sailing are high on her priority list. The Dixons are members at First Baptist
Church, Salisbury. Their sons are Fred Jr. of Charlotte, N.C., Mark of Moore, S.C. and Brian of Durham, N.C.
