Entertainment President’s Letter… by Wes Kirchner Fredericksburg, Virginia Café has been working well for our club although things look like they may be changing. Keep your fingers crossed on this one. Welcome to our new members and visitors who are finding out how great our dance really is. In July we started what I hope to be a regular event. We held a dance card night which proved to be one of the busiest nights we have had in a long time. Some thirty-five people took part in our game filling the dance floor, and their dance cards, throughout the night. In August, we held a poker night, which proved to be, shall I say, at the least, interesting. Congratulations go out to club members Roger and Doris who were the winners in both events…. I hope to introduce more exciting events in the com- ing months, so stay tuned. The Cannon ball Blast was a suc- cess as I knew it would be. Kevin also danced with two ladies at one time,( go Donna). A line dance by our members also pro- vided entertainment. Thanks Jewel for the in- struction. The sounds were lively and smooth and the spirits were high at the Fredericksburg Country Club on Sat-urday, August 28 when the Battlefield Boogie Club had their 6th Annual Cannonball Blast. There wereapproximately 78 in attendance wearing their uptown clothes and bringing with them their best foot for-ward. Thank you to our Northern Va. Shag Club friends that drove from near and far to join us. Welove y’all!
The Country Club put on a great dinner for us with an abundance of good flavors. The beach music wasprovided by Fredericksburg’s homegrown Jim Rose, who much to our dismay has moved to the shag-ging south in North Myrtle Beach, S.C. It was great to have Jim DJ for us. The dancing filled the nightwith fun, style and lots of footwork. And, wow, the entertainment dazzled everyone. First, our ownBBC members showed off with a special line dance led by our own Jewel Pradier. We have such goodtroopers. Then Kevin Tisdale and Charmane did their fancy hand dancing repertoire and Kevin evenbrought our own Donna Bevins on the floor to hand dance with them. You go Kevin…. 2 ladies at onetime, what a guy! Following Kevin and his partners were 3 ladies that did some sassy island and zumbapresentations. Mayeisha, Elba and Tanya were pumped up in their routine and even got many of ourcourageous shaggers on the floor to try out some of their dance program. Everyone enjoyed their dancesand raved at the amount of energy that they demonstrated….and all to rhythm of selective music. Wecould have gone on with these energetic dances, but time ran out on us.. But, what a showcase! A bigthank you to all of our dancers! See pictures on page 4.
Thank you to all that helped with the party and thank you to Fredericksburg Visitors Center for the con-tribution of door prizes, and also to Lee’s Retreat Pub in Beecom Center, Fredericksburg for their gen-erous gift certificate for dinner at their restaurant. And, most of all thank you to our members and gueststhat help make the party a success.See you next year, and on the dance floor real soon. Don’t forget, let the good times roll!

RILEY IS IMPROVING!
We are so happy to report that our BBC member and good friend Riley Crawford is improving fromhis surgery he had in July. He is still in rehab and gets better each day. He is starting to get excitedabout football and using the cell phone. We are hopeful that with each day he will be on his way backamong us. Karen, his wife has been a real trooper and thanks everyone for their prayers and support.Keep it up, they are very much needed and appreciated. Riley we are rooting for you!
