REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Pre-registration is required for all classes. Last minute and walk-in registrations may not be accommodated.

Pre-Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis and is required to guarantee supplies. Registration forms and full "tuition" payment must be received before the first class.

Please note that some classes include an additional materials fee. These fees are payable to the instructor at the time of the first class.

The NAH reserves the right to cancel any class--in this event you will receive a full refund. We do not prorate classes. A 50% refund will be given if canceling before first class; after the first class, no refund will be given.

Summer Mini Art Camps for Kids! Spend a week this summer exploring art! All camps run for a half day; parents should pick up their child no later than ten minutes after camp ends. Please send your child with a nut-free snack.

FAIRIES, TROLLS, AND MAGICAL CREATURES Instructor: Julie Woodard We’ll explore a variety of art media as we have fun drawing, sculpting with Sculpey clay, and painting with acrylics in this magical creatures themed camp!

FARM ANIMALS Instructor: Julie Woodard

Cluck! Oink! Quack! Moo! This week is all about the farm! We’ll explore a variety of art media as we have fun drawing, sculpting with Sculpey clay, and painting with acrylics in this farm animals themed camp.

SEWTASTIC! Instructor: Maria Latour Design and create your own fleece stuffed animal. Handsewing will be covered as well as instruction on using a sewing machine. Other projects include: a pouch style purse and colorful, one-of-a-kind throw pillow. Each student will go home with a book called "Sewtastic!" with over 20 projects to make at home.

CREATIVE JEWELRY MAKING Instructor: Maria Later

Make one of a kind bracelets and necklaces using wire, leather, stretch cord with glass, acrylic, and semi-precious stone beads.

Learn the basics of cartoon techniques and Japanese manga.

KIDS CAN CROCHET! Instructor: Jenna Woodcox In this multi-week offering, kids ages 6-9 will learn the fundamentals and common techniques used in crochet such as casting on, single crochet, and making three dimensional items. Students will leave with multiple projects from bookmarks to wearable items. Attendees will also be supplied with supplementary reference material to ensure confidence in their creativity.

TRANSFORMATIONAL SELF-PORTRAIT Instructor: Kyle Pryce, MA, LPC, CAADC

Using art and the creative process as a means of self-reflection can help us navigate through life changes. This class will offer students the opportunity to use a combination of loosely structured group therapy and the creative process to

discuss and reflect on their current, past, and ideal sense of self. The class will focus on overcoming negative self-image and associations from the past, as well as healthy ways of coping with change and adversity. The class is suitable for all

skill levels and will also offer basic instruction and background information about self-portraiture. Students will ideally take away from the class: an inspiring painting/work of art that serves as a reminder of their resilience and ability to

live more freely in the present; the idea of using art as a means of self expression, discussion of coping skills and processing challenging emotions, and a basic knowledge of the elements of self-portraits.

WET FELTING: BEYOND THE BASICS Instructor: Linda Larsen

Enjoy the colorful world of wet felting as you learn how to make and use prefelts, use resists, and create texture in your felted work. Students will create a piece of their own design. It may be a scarf, table runner, wall hanging or etc. Bring your creativity and a few basic items listed on the supply list. All wool, tulle, embell-ishments, etc. will be provided.

TRADITIONAL ADULT DROP-IN STUDIO “Drop-In" the Art House for camaraderie and encouragement while working on your own project. This open studio is for any artist who

works in 2D media. No instruction is provided, but fellowship is encouraged. For those who wish, still life set-ups will be provided to inspire creativity. (M) $10; (NM) $15 per date. No registration is required.

CLASSES for TEENS (16+) and ADULTS BEGINNING DRAWING Instructor: Jennifer Helner Explore the adventure of drawing. Expand on simple shapes and techniques to explore perspective, shading, texture, values, composition and more. The class will use pencil, charcoal, ebony, colored pencils, pens and much more. New and different papers will be used to further your creativity. All three sessions are ongoing with new mediums and techniques introduced with each session.

BEGINNING & CONTINUING PASTEL PAINTING Instructor: Jennifer Helner

Designed for beginners as well as more experienced students, this class will help you gain knowledge and experience in many areas such as: color theory, art elements, principles of art as well as the development of one's own unique style. This class provides a relaxed atmosphere where creativity and comfortable learning are the teacher’s goal in helping

each student learn at his/her pace.

BEGINNING WATERCOLOR Instructor: Jennifer Helner This class is for those who have little or no experience with watercolor and will help students become comfortable with watercolor painting techniques and enjoy the process of painting. Learn the basics of materials, tools, techniques, colors, values and “seeing”. Enjoy a fun, inspirational and relaxing two hours exploring the beauty of this medium.

Do you know your camera phone setting? Do you know the relationship between your camera phone and your computer?

Do you know the difference between print quality and web quality?

The relationship between the three is remarkably similar – and easy to learn! If you use any three of these mediums – take a quick three week seminar on how to use your camera, computer, and

printer with actual images you take with your cell phone. Learn how to modify them digitally for both web and print quality, providing a printed final that you can display proudly!

WORKSHOPS for TEENS (16+) and ADULTS“LET IT FLOW” AN INTRODUCTION TO ALCOHOL INKS Instructor: Dagmar Jasmin Langsch Learn about the basics of alcohol ink painting. Instruction will focus on free-flowing technique, creating texture, controlling medium, and expanding your range while working in alcohol inks. Students will make their own vibrant, colorful works to take home. For those sensitive to the smell of strong alcohol, it is advised to bring a mask with you.

COUPLES ART THERAPY WORKSHOP Instructor: Kyle Pryce, MA, LPC, CAADC

This two-day workshop invites couples to learn new and unique ways of problem solving, communication and loving one another. This workshop is great for students of all skill levels, but none are required and the activities will

generally be suitable for those with even no prior art making experience. We will explore ways of reconnecting and cultivating a deeper, more meaningful relationship through the creative process. The group will combine a loosely

formatted group therapy component and artistic exercises that will afford couples a different way of communicating and expressing emotions in a productive and healthy way.

FINDING YOUR CREATIVE CENTER & HEALING THROUGH THE CREATIVE PROCESS Instructor: Kyle Pryce, MA, LPC, CAADC This class will combine elements of open format group therapy and creative exercises and activities. It is suitable for all skill levels, and will include basic instruction and background of elements of design as they relate to self expression. The group will offer students the opportunity to discuss issues related to emotional health including depression, anxi-ety, stress and anger and encourage them to explore using art as a coping mechanism. The group will also offer guided exercises that encourage students to use their intuition to make an introspective and therapeutic work of art.

Looking for a space to work on your own 2D or 3D project? This open crafting studio provides space for any artists and crafters- knitters, sculptors, paper crafters; all are welcome! No instruction is provided. Crafters must supply their own materials and clean up.

Whether you're a beginner who has never tried your hand at let-tering or you're an intermediate-level letterer looking to pick up some pointers on style and design, this 2 day lettering workshop will give many fun, exciting ways to express yourself in LETTERS! Many different styles and techniques will be covered with instruction that will allow you to noticeably improve your lettering skills in a relatively short amount of time. “EN PLEIN AIR” WATERCOLOR WORKSHOP Instructor: Jennifer Helner

This two-day intermediate watercolor workshop in beautiful Northville provides an emphasis on design, drawing your subject, and creativity. Individual attention to beginners as well as advanced with information that will keep you

inspired and painting in a creative manner. The class will work on location in Northville (weather permitting) and in studio at the Art House to ensure a wonderful experience. Bring your paper, brushes, and paint and be ready to learn!

WORKSHOPS for TEENS (16+) and ADULTS

ANATOMY FOR ARTISTS (intermediate to advanced level) Instructor: Amy Foster This week-long intensive workshop is a “must” for any artist who is hoping to better their life drawing skills. It is recommended that you are already familiar with basic life drawing as this is not a beginner class. We will be looking at, discussing, and simplifying the entire bone structure, which is what establishes an armature for muscle and flesh to sit upon. After two days of focusing on the bone structure, we will move into the muscle structure and learn what makes each person unique. Live models will be present daily so students can put this new-found knowledge to the test after each mini-lecture. Instructor will utilize the skeleton, completed anatomical drawings, handouts, books and many, many drawing demonstrations to share her love of the figure. A supply list is available on our website.

WET FELTING BASICS Instructor: Linda Larsen

Explore the art of wet felting by making a stylish scarf from wool roving. Each student will make design and embellishment decisions enabling them to make their own unique piece of wearable art.
