Level 1-Sideline Cheerleading Because so many people only see this kind of cheerleading, they judge the sport solely on girls in skirts leading the crowd in chants. This brings disgrace upon the sport.
Level 2-Injuries
Because of the high level of acrobatics and skill, cheerleading is one of the leading injury-related sports.
Level 3Professional Sports teams cheerleaders.
They call themselves cheerleaders, but the only thing they do is dance simple steps.
Completely an image and marketing ploy for the team.
Level 4-Deductions
Points are docked for a mere bobble to a huge stunt collapse. In some cases, this can cause a new flawless routine to be sent to the bottom of the standings.
Level 5- Paula Abdul As choreographer for the Laker's Girls in the eighties, more cheerleaders were injured, fired, and generally abused than at any other time in the organization’s history. She definitely ignited the stereotype for cheerleaders.
Level 6 Bring it On! Movies and HellcatzEmphasized that cheerleaders are ditzy blondes who are the drama
causing girls of the school. In some cases this may be
true, but these movies lowered the level of
athleticism and heightened the drama.
Level 7- Performance Anxiety Pressure of competingOnly 2 minutes 30 seconds to perform, where other sports if you make a mistake you can redeem yourself.
Garbage Cans
Level 8-ImageEarly morningsPounds of glitter, bottles of hairspray, gigantic bows, perfectly spiraled curls
Level 9-Parents Like any sport, cheer parents can get psychotic. You can almost guarantee the best girl on the team has a crazy mother as her driving force.
Example of how costly deductions are. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AIKxZGu2
