Dear friends and supporters,

It is with a heavy heart, that I am announcing my resignation as Executive Director of the Chelsea Senior Center (CSC) effective June 1, 2019. I was diagnosed 15 years ago with myelofibrosis, a rare blood disorder. Although I have enjoyed great quality of life, the disease progression has changed my treatment outcomes and I will be leaving my position to focus on my family and my bone marrow transplant. You can find out more information about this blood cancer using this link: www.mpnresearchfoundation.org.

This is not an easy decision for me as I truly love my job, our mission, and the many people I now count as dear friends and extended family. Since joining the CSC in April 2011, I continue to be inspired by the dedication and commitment of our Board members (past and present), staff, and volunteers. Truly though, the best part of my job is hearing the many stories of our senior center members who inspire me with their wealth of life experiences. I will miss all of this, but I am grateful and comforted knowing that the CSC is a strong organization with a secure foundation and deep community roots.

During this transition, our Board is committed to ensur-ing a successful continuity of CSC operations, maintain-ing our momentum with growth and strategic priorities, and addressing any concerns from our community. We will begin recruiting a new Director in January and will keep you posted about our progress. If at any time, you have questions or concerns, please feel free to stop by the Center -- my door is always open! You may also contact me at [email protected] or our Board President, Gary Munce at [email protected]. As I em-bark on my new personal journey, I know the Chelsea Senior Center is stronger than ever and I wholeheartedly believe that this transition will lead to new and exciting opportunities for our organization and our community.

With gratitude for this rewarding chapter of my life,

Trinh Pifer, M.P.H. Executive Director
