run him down. Knight’s 84, Wynn’s 85 and Atkin-son’s 86 were good, but not good enough.

Dave Wynn won the flight A net club champi-onship competition with a net 150 for his two rounds (the gross club champ is not eligible for net flight honors). Mel Knight took second place in flight A with a net 153. Darryl Jeffries and Mike Conrad both posted net 153 scores to top the flight B competition. Jeffries took the flight B title by winning the first tiebreaker; lowest round 2 score.

Ray Woolfolk outdis-tanced the flight C field with a net 147. George Weekes, with a net 153, was 6 strokes back for flight C runner up. Ed Cosby, with a blistering net 69 in round 2, took flight D honors with a net total of 150. Eli White placed second in flight D with a net 155.

Congrats to all of the club championship competi-tion winners. Also, kudos to all members who par-ticipated in this two day event making it competi-tive and fun for all in-volved.

Greg Ward outlasted the rest of the field to take the club championship crown by two strokes over Dave Wynn. The first round started Saturday at The Architects’ under unset-tled skies. Rain, thunder, lightning and gale force winds interrupted first round play on Saturday with all Ball Striker groups on the back nine.

The first round resumed early Sunday morning under much friendlier skies and on a much sog-gier course. It was decided that all groups would re-sume play from the tee of the hole where they

stopped play. As groups finished their first round, they were sent out for second round play at the earliest open tee time. Architects’ did a good job of keeping the champion-ship on track.

Greg Ward, with a cham-pionship low round of 81, enjoyed a four stroke lead over Dave Wynn after the first round. Curtis Atkin-son and Mel Knight were also within striking dis-tance, down 5 and 6 strokes respectively. Ward shot a pedestrian 87 sec-ond round but none of the contenders could go low enough in round 2 to

The last event of this sea-son is scheduled for Satur-day, October 6 at Skyview. This will be the first Ball Striker event at this venue. This will be a Ship-pen Cup event featuring individual match play (mano a mano) and stroke play against the field.

Ray Woolfolk has a strat-egy for winning the Ship-pen Cup title. Don’t worry about the match play competition. Do your best in the stroke play competition and the match play will take care of itself. Kinda hard to argue with the 2012 Ship-pen Cup champ. With one Shippen Cup event left on the calendar, Woolfolk has a lead that cannot be overcome. He built this lead by placing second in Shippen Cup stroke play in both round 1 and round 2 of the club championship event. This earned him 30 points each round and put him out of reach; over 45

points above the nearest competitor.

Greg Ward, capping an extraordinary champion-ship weekend, won the round 1 Shippen Cup stroke play event with a net 71. Woolfolk carded a net 73 for 2nd place. Dave Wynn and Mel Lu-Sane tied for third with net 75’s.

Ed Cosby took his second Shippen Cup event stroke play title of the season with a second round net 69. Cosby’s 69 was the lowest net score of the championship weekend. Woolfolk’s net 74 put him in second place. Mel Knight, Dave Wynn and
